I lived about halfway down on the left, on the river. But the only view was trees and furniture/mattresses that previous tenants had thrown off balconies.

300-odd fire alarms every year
A buddy of mine on the 7th floor at Russell was drunk and decided to climb in his closet during a fire alarm and keep sleeping on his stack of dirty clothes. Problem was that night was real fire where somebody but a Sunday AJC (they’d put them outside your door on Sat night if you ordered the paper) on an electric stove and turn on the eye. Real fire that made a mess of the kitchen on that floor. Luckily I was out of town because it became a big deal with fire marshall.
Anyway, he was awakened to a fire fighter in full garb and mask ripping open the closet door and yelling for him to crawl out and go down the steps....full mask and everything......complete with thick smoke filling the halls. It scared the shite out of him. He jumped out and crawled on all fours to the stairs and ran down and outside in his underwear out into the crowd.
He said he thought he was going to die.

All these memories are really cool. Makes me kinda jealous, I wanted to go to uga but my family really couldn’t afford it. I’ve made up for it, though by living in five points the last 22 years. It’s awesome! I feel like Matthew Mc in Dazed and Confused. I keep getting older but these college girls stay the same.

It was fun. Did some acid trip walks through the cemetery at night with some friends a couple of times. Learned to roll my kayak in that pool.
I lived there a year and then lived inn S. Finley for a year and a half right across from the tree that owns itself.
Last place I lived was the loft above Flanagan’s and Half Moon Pub on East Clayton.

Don't remember the actual address anymore, but I was in the bottom floor of the building closest to campus. If you were standing in the breezeway that was closest to the gap in the fence by the railroad tracks, and facing campus, mine was the apartment immediately to your right.

If it happened in 1990, I was there for that fire. Or, if not, I was there for one with an identical cause. Eighth floor for me, though.
Favorite actual fire was when a drunk decided to stuff his mattress down the trash chute and got it stuck. He then figured that the best way to get it out was to light it on fire....

Oh yeah, we had the same breezeway then. We were on the top floor though.

Don’t know if it’s still there but do y’all remember the Taco Stand on S. Barnett Shoals & College Station? HUGE burritos. Absolutely awesome for those of us on the East side.
In the 90s, the best video store, hands down, Video Library on Lexington & Gaines School. Run by film geeks with a great collection that included a shoe box with notecards & on the notecards were glued the cut-out box titles & front pic of each porn flick they rented.
You could not find a single film by John Hughes in there. They fricking hated that guy.

I was 7th floor on the wing that pointed towards Baxter. For the 89 - 90 year....my room faced Crestwell(?).
I roomed with my best friend from HS. Place was a total shithole but I don’t know that I’ve ever had as much fun as I did that year.
