No, actually he's not saying much of anything that hasn't already been reported by others.

So Saban chewed their asses out? Well to be honest they deserved it.

Did Saban look mad enough during the game to chew anyone out? I doubt he chewed anyone out.

The worst arse chewings are those calm and truthful arse chewings. I would think Saban laid that on the defensive staff sometime after the game.

Not much to look at. He is not saying anything we don't know about.

Well if you put it like that then yes....a come to Jesus meeting. I originally took it to mean a ranting and raving butt chewing.

I’m sure Saban did have a lot to say.. but he needs to look in the mirror on some of those calls too. Like calling the fake field goal when the defense is in safe.. and banking it on a 150lb kid blocking.

I will never forget the Auburn game when Saban finally gave Kiffin the Reins.. we had to out score them and Kiffin did it. We all knew what had happened. Saban is a hell of a coach on D.. Not much of a O guy. I’m hoping this lost doesn’t make him jump into all play calling on the O.. he needs to focus on D and let the OC do his thing. Which is why I want a good one hired

Why do people think the HC should have no input into play calls? It's his arse on the line for the W/L. You can bet your arse I'd be giving input if I'm the top dog. Do I think Nick should be on the headset calling "Spider 2 Y Banana" during the 25 second clock? No, of course. But at junctures during the game do I think he should be telling the OC "I want to hammer them with the power run game this drive" or "let's take some shots deep this possession"? Damn right. His game show, his basement, his rules.

Saban is responsible for the program as a whole, but he did not call that play. It was signaled in from the sideline right before the ball was snapped.

He actually said himself he called that play.. any fake like that only goes through him. Which it should, I agree going for it.. but leave Tua in and hit a slant

Don’t worry Saban is very involved in the play calling.. especially bigger games. Reason we go into a shell in those games and don’t open it up. Such as not blitzing Clemson and sticking with 4 rushers. Saban’s offensive plan is to not make mistakes and rely on defense.. problem is the game has changed. Problem with the Championship game is we ran into a more disciplined team with equal talent.. We out talent most people so it usually works...but we will stall against closer talent. (UGA, Clemson, OSU) I will say he did better this year letting them open it up with Tua. Seemed like he trusted Locksley with Tua.. I just wish he gets a OC he can trust to run the game and they stick around. Being a OC is like being a RB.. you have to get a feel for the game and set up plays. It takes time and its hard when every other play is being questioned. It throws you off your game

I stand corrected. I hadn't seen that.

Not sure to what you refer. The first topic is about UGA recruiting.

You mean this one about Hurts? LINK

Or perhaps this?

Per a reliable source, Nick Saban unloaded on the coaching staff and players. Some coaches were told they were only there to recruit, where others needed to learn the basic x's and o's before they do anything else! LINK

The players were quite frustrated at how this came across and are apparently questioning some things about the program. LINK

edit: reading rest of thread, I see it's the latter

I was told that it is not all accurate in that post. Boz even said it was partly true.. and others have said it wasnt entirely true as well. So this is not quite reliable info.

If it is indeed Sarkisian, that may be one reason why Saban went with him; don't know about him sticking around for long though. Read another post somewhere on the board (so many threads on this, I can't recall which one) where the poster told of a family friend who's a former player mentioning that Sarkisian will do what Saban wants offensively with little pushback...

The part about wanting Saban to focus on Defense instead of OC... that's bullshite. He is responsible for offense and defense as a whole. There is a reason why he is a HC. He is not perfect, but damnit.. let the man do his job.
