Josh Clarke did indeed show up for Camp and has done well I believe.

Pennamon is still nursing his injury. It was pretty severe.

Anyone know anything about AJ? Seems like he’s ok but I don’t want this hamstring issue to linger all year.

AJ is fine. Nothing major, he'll be playing at 100% next week. Just a precaution.

Hard to believe he'd have his A game if he hasn't been practicing. But I'd certainly rather him get healthy and not risk battling that all season, which is not at all uncommon with hamstring strains.

Last camp update before my focus shifts to the season:

1) Ben Brown, as we saw, has been taking first team reps at guard and has earned a starting spot. He's a big body at 6'6" 290 and has made some great strides in the fall.
2) Eric Swinney has fricking mono. So our 2nd and 3rd leading rushers from last season are both out for a few weeks.
3) Scottie Phillips will be the starting RB. He has impressed in the fall and beat out Eric Swinney.
4) Update on Devaughn Pennamon: his knee injury from last fall is still plaguing him and he will not be available for a few weeks. He will be reevaluated a few weeks into the season.
5) Freshman LBs continue to impress. Kevontae Ruggs will start at LB this fall, and many other freshman LBs will see playing time this fall. From what I've read, the LB corps is actually fairly decent.
6) AJ will be 100% for Texas Tech.
7) Matt Corral will also be 100% after nursing a finger injury.
8) The secondary will be interesting. There is experience and depth there this year, but who will step up and be the leader of the secondary?
9) All coaches are happy with how practice has gone, and we will not enter the season with any "problem areas."

For reference, here is Matt Luke's announced 2 deep lineup for Tech.

Sounds a lot like the Nutt press conferences. Yay

Oh Henry, I think you are happiest when you are miserable.

Do you just come here to vent or are you this miserable in all aspects of your life?

A couple of questions regarding eligibility: is Sims a junior or senior? He is listed as both on that depth chart. Ta’amu is listed as a junior, I thought he was a junior last year. Will he have another year after this season? I seem to recall him getting injured in JC but I don’t know if it was enough to give him another year or not.

They are both seniors this season.

That’s what I thought but I wasn’t sure. Thanks

Didn't Ta'amu apply for a redshirt based on the year he was hurt in Juco? I know he has to be listed as a senior until his appeal is complete. Did the FNCAA rule on his appeal yet?

Sounds a lot like a generic line you'd hear from any coach before the season... ?
