What would you say were / are the three greatest strengths and weaknesses of each Bama HC from Bryant to Saban?

Probably should have shortened the list. Just curious what some folks think have been the strengths and weaknesses of past Bama coaches.

Strengths
Both are great leaders who would be successful in any career

Weaknesses
Bryant: Drank too much
Saban: Too short to see who best QB is until we lose.

I believe Saban is a better recruiter than Bryant. He has really made Bama a national brand. Under Bryant, Bama was really the epitome of southern football but we never really extended beyond that

Bryant had a lot of very good contemporaries: Ara P., McKay, Royal. Saban in this era is really unequaled.

Saban will probably leave the "organization" in better shape than Bryant did. Everyone and their mom that was associated with Bryant had some bs job and wanted to be involved in everything. It finally took Saban coming in to clean it up.

"but he worked under the bear"
"but he was cucked by the bear"
"but he cut the bear's grass"
"but he served the bear his food"

Bryant: 1) made the players feel like they were better than they were
2) adapted to the changes in both football and social life (the allowance of long hair, etc.)
3) toughness

Saban: 1) tireless recruiter of both players and assistant coaches
2) always willing to change in order to win
3) the “Process”

I don't know about Bryant but I think Saban would be even better if he'd let the Offensive Coordinators run the offense as they think best. If he doesn't trust them to do a good job, don't hire them, but if he does, let them do it.

Saban biggest weakness and the one thing in my mind that will prevent him from truly even possibly surpassing the Bear's aura....

Complete subjugation of Auburn.

Nick Saban has broken Tennessee and has become LSU's nightmare, but our biggest foe has been allowed to not only fester and flare up, but has gone so far as to win trophies during OUR golden age. Bear Bryant all but killed Auburn's will during his prime and until Nick Saban can gain complete and total control of this state, Bryant will loom large.

Things are different now. Nick Saban and most younger people dont care about Tennessee and the Iron Bowl isnt like it was for us. Saban is so good his biggest rivals are (or were) Texas, Florida, LSU, Ohio State, CLemson, etc. And guess who is still king?

I totally get what you are saying, and like you, wish that were the case with Auburn. Putting things into perspective, I think that with Alabama (under Saban) the systematic approach is that the next game is the big game and they all are equally important. Auburn's entire world revolves around beating us. I think that is why we have not put them away like UT and LSU.

While UT and LSU would both give their left nuts to beat us, I don't think they are on par with Auburn (being in state) with the magnitude of what it means to beat Alabama.
