Hugh Freeze at the Senior Bowl in Mobile

How can you not like this guy…humble, focused, frank, relentless

I'll like him if he wins. That's it. That's what he's paid lots of money to do.

When discussing the QB room, he mentions TJ. That tells me TJ is doing more than keeping his arm warm until he graduates and transfers.

Freeze also says he wants one more OL for the room and will look for one in the next transfer window.

Him bringing up TJ without being asked was very surprising to me.

He talked about Ashford and Hank Brown. Didn’t say anything about Holden.

Nothing from that interview indicated TJ was in any way ahead of any of the other QBs in the room.

He mentioned all of them. TJ surprised me because I had written him off.

I’ve heard him interviewed enough to know that he believes this is his last real shot at becoming a championship coach and he intends to make the most of it. What he is doing on the recruiting trail IS winning. He is laying a foundation that gives us the best shot at being a consistent program since Dye was there. Gus and Chiz were one-hit wonders. Freeze is building a program.

He's always dog tired. It's very telling with all the relentless legwork we've witnessed. Not posting Instagram crap about mornings inside his garage gym while he's actively refusing to fulfill the duties of his job. Going from that to this, and people wonder why so many are unapologetically happy and hopeful about it all, and just want to enjoy watching it play out. Some might try and piss in our oatmeal, but they won't be successful.

All you could want. Nice to hear him directly metion "4 stars" and "5 stars." I didn't take much from the QB mentions - I thought it was more of a deflection of the reporter's comment ("you said you were going to sign a qb" yeah thanks for that).

He has to mention TJ otherwise he would be creating a fresh off the press news report. TJ will have to announce his news.

I was wondering what the deal with Scooter was. Still am, I guess.

God help us if he stays and wins the job next season. I can't deal with that again...

Surely he is just waiting to graduate and then transfer as a grad transfer since he's already used his free transfer, right? He can grad transfer without affecting his eligibility again.

I listened to the interview again. It doesn’t sound like he is a Harsin fan.

I like how he spells out he likes carrying 16 OL but we only had 7 for next year “for whatever reason.”

I like knowing his number. 16.

16 is a big number but I’m ready for the extra wiggle room should the Calvin Ashley’s not pan out. Freeze is really determined to get both lines right.

Tub never gets the credit he deserves, IMO. I loved watching his teams. You knew they were going to hit the shite out of the opposition all game long. You knew our OL were maulers. Physical football........my favorite kind.

He didn't hold back taking shots at the previous regime.

I don't know of anyone that could look at the past two seasons under Harsin and be a fan of the direction the program went. At least he is honest about it.

Fair point. Didn’t mean to skip him over. Tubs was king of the “diamond in the rough” recruit mixed in with some high profile guys. Dontarious Thomas and SenDerrick Marks come to mind. And he did recruit some damn good offensive lines in the early years.
