Seeing his name pop up quite a bit as a plan C guy. What's his connection there? Is it just that he was QB coach at Mississippi State for a bit, and Cohen is a State guy?

I assume that's the connection.

It's an interesting option to me.

He served as OC at Utah, Houston, and Florida, but his fallback position is QB coach. He is Jalen Hurts’ coach currently.

They could just be Given the Dog A Bone and let him get some interview practice.

He was at MS with Mullen while Cohen was the AD I believe. Other than that I have nothing.

With the urgency to hire a coach from the Auburn fanbase, this would just be a bunch of noise pollution.

He beat Alabama in a Sugar Bowl.

That’s his main qualification.

I had to google to figure out who this was. Where are you seeing he’s an option?

I've seen it on our board. My son at Auburn just mentioned his name as well.

I had to google him too. A little underwhelming but it could be a decent hire.

Mullen called the plays at those schools though. I don't see this being the play at all. If so, wow.

Agree that it's a little out of left field, but didn't know if his name had been circling for other jobs or something.

Yeah I think that's it. He's a Mullen protege - coached with him at State and UF. Also he now has NFL experience.

But, if we go that route, why not just hire Mullen?

Al.com article shows him as a possible hire. I read it yesterday and am too lazy to hunt it back up. He apparently is #3 on their list and now #1 since 1 and 2 didn’t work out. He appears the most likely hire of all of the ones so far.

BJ was responsible for a lot of the passing game shift in Mullen’s offense with Trask, probably deserves more credit than he gets for that offense after Mullen’s one year as our head coach without him. There were definitely people hoping we could promote him to HC when Mullen was trying to move to NFL. He’s doing an incredible job with Hurts right now in Philly.
