We could have a crazy weak playoff field if we beat Bama

At this point we’re the only team that seems to be in one way or the other.

Michigan and Cincinnati are both in if they win. Bama is in if they beat us, but if they don’t, you’re looking at either Oklahoma State or Notre Dame if OSU loses.

The playoff field could be:

1. Georgia
2. Michigan
3. Cincinnati
4. OSU/ND

We will win the national championship if that is indeed the field.

Holy shite.

Rat poison to say we could really help ourselves with a win this week?

We know anything can happen. Love the position we put ourselves in by taking care of business.

I just want to see us beat Bama Saturday and stick their dicks in the dirt. I’ll worry about the field after that.

Need to beat Alabama bad enough to make the committee not wonder what they'd do if they got another chance.

And the ticket prices will be through the ROOF. First time with no Bama/Clemson/THE OTHER OSU and three of those teams can drive to Indy easily. For one, it's a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.

PSA: Buy now if you haven't already.

See you there, folks!

Especially if Michigan is involved. Cincinnati and Oklahoma State wouldn't bring a ton of fans, but it would damn near be a road game if we're playing Michigan in Indianapolis for a title.

I have a hard time seeing Dawg fans not showing en masse to Indy if that happened. I’m sure Michigan fans would outnumber us, but it would be similar to the Clemson game this year. 60-40 max. We travel too well for anything more than that.

I watched a good part of the Michigan / Ohio State game. Pretty impressed with Michigan.

Dawg fans would absolutely show out big time. Michigan fans are just as desperate as we are for a title though and that is a comfortable driving distance for a school with maybe the largest alumni base in the entire Midwest. There would be a metric frick ton of Michigan fans there.

Michigan's offensive line was the most impressive unit in all of college football yesterday. They haven't mauled Ohio State on the line of scrimmage like that since the early Lloyd Carr years.

They match up against us pretty well, but for the sport, it would be a great game.

I wouldn’t count out Cincy. Every alum they have could make the drive in an hour. They don’t even have to plan. They may surprise you if they lucked into it. But more importantly, those fans will be buying tickets before the CFP starts. That’s what will drive it. I doubt they actually make the Natty.

For fun, below are the Strength of Schedule ranks as of today in bold. This is out of 130 teams so mostly everyone below has had a respectable schedule (except for Cincinnati).

1. Georgia* (12-0) - 44th
2. Michigan** (11-1) - 32nd
3. Cincinnati (12-0) - 88th
4. Oklahoma State University*** (11-1) - 33rd
5. Notre Dame (11-1) - 31st

Others, with their record as of 11/28:

Ohio State (10-2) - 8th
Ole Miss (10-2) - 17th
Iowa** (10-2) - 18th
Michigan State (10-2) - 19th
Alabama* (11-1) - 22nd
Baylor*** (10-2) - 39th

*Will play for SEC title
**Will play for Big 10 title
***Will play for Big 12 title

It would probably be best for college football if Cincinnati were to lose to 11-1 Houston in the AAC game because Notre Dame and likely others are more deserving based on SOS. But Houston, with a SOS of only 111 (!) are pretenders themselves, so we may be stuck with Cincinnati regardless.

While extending the college football season further has pros/cons, I like the idea of eventually having one additional round (8-team playoff) since it would likely get everyone in each year who deserves a shot.

Nolan Smith said yesterday on Bulldogs GameDay that he reads message board stuff even though they're advised not to.
