Harsin asked about whether Davis will see playing time. His answer was short and sweet. "No, we haven't had those conversations."

Later he was asked who the backup will be and he said Loy.

Is this the thread where we doubt the QB evaluations of the two former D1 QBs turned coaches? I've been waiting for this thread. We've only been having it since fricking A Day.

Not from me. I was just throwing it out there for discussion. Obviously they don't feel DD is ready even though he can play in these last two games and keep his redshirt.

Yes, I would doubt them for playing Grant Loy over DD. Unless DD is just absolutely atrocious, I think you play him over Loy.

Outside of Hunter has any true freshmen really played anywhere? And Hunter or Sean Jackson had to be the 3rd back

Landed King has played probably the most out of any TF on offense. Outside of Hunter of course. I recall seeing Dawson on the field in one of the SEC games (Arky maybe).

Yea I’m not sure what good you think playing DD right now would do. I think he is our best talent at the position, but wait until it’s truly his time. Throwing him in there now is bad idea

Not saying to start him, but I think he should absolutely be the backup and play in a blowout situation over Loy.

The coaches brought Finley in for a reason to be the backup and put pseudo pressure on Bo

I tried to tell some of yall. The coaches like pocket passing QBs not scramblers.. Look at the type of QBs they are recruiting.

You’re right. Davis did throw the ball a lot in HS, though. Around 9k yards and 100 passing TDs in 3 season

Had a great HS OL though. I think Finley makes sense to start. I don’t really know who should back him up at that point. We’re in bad shape if our 3rd string is in regardless

You mean the two former D1 QBs turned coaches that haven't figured out how to score a TD in the 2nd half of the past 3 games? Why would anyone doubt them?

I would agree at this point.
Loy is a placeholder, nothing more.
The season is gone, 2nd tier bowl game at best.
WHY NOT play a freshman even if he may not have a full grasp of everything that's going on? It won't burn a redshirt, and in the big scheme of things it means nothing other than giving him an opportunity to show what he can do, or not do, against top level talent.

Yep.

Coaches are going to the most experienced guys w their offense and w past knowledge so TJ and Loye would be who they felt most comfortable.

If DD was ready I believe In 2 offensive coaches who are/were OCs and QBs.

Just bc they have struggled the last 3 2nd halves but they also ran the offense well in those 1st halves too.

Loy seems to have decent film from Bowling Green. I did notice he locks on to a receiver and stares a hole in them.
