The best 'tell' yet Stetson should start.

I saw something tonight that, for me, solidified my opinion that Stetson should start.
In the first quarter, when it was tight, he was smiling, even after bad plays. I've seen Farve do it. I've seen Joe Montana do it. I've seen Marines do it when the crap is hitting the fan and all the chips are down. It's a smile of total confidence with an initial, bad outcome, because they KNEW, at the end of the day, how the game was going to end. It's a mentality that steadies the confidence felt by everyone around them. You can't put a price on that. It's a rarified type of leadership. At first I thought maybe I was mistaken, but there were several times during the game when the camera would pan in on his face and sure enough I caught a glimpse of it 3-4 more times.
There was another time that he took a hit and got a wad of sod in his helmet. The players rushed over and were picking it out and preening over him like he was their
firstborn. That kind of stuff, those kind of actions SPEAK.

Just toss the ball instead of the sacks please.
Was very clear he was trying to just not toss a pick tonight (which isn’t a bad thing). Think longest pass play was 23 yards.
Where he failed on other third down plays he made up for with running.
Thought we may need JT in a shoot out but we adjusted or TN stopped executing.

He is leading this team and that's not a knock on JT. It was the same with Fromm. Leaders may not be the most talented but they bring the talent out of the team. We have been lucky at UGA to have some mighty damn good ones.

UTs dbs were backing up 10 yards on the snap. It was not a good day for the long ball.

But ESPN told us for years that "Chicks dig the long ball."

Yeah. The endzone kind of makes it harder to get more yardage.
That dime to cook for a 23 yard score was 6 yards deep in the end zone. The same play counted for about 75 yards against bama last season.

He’s taken 3 sacks all year!
BTw Bryce young has 21

For the life of me I don’t understand why some Dawgs can’t get behind what is, to this point, one of the best player stories in UGA history. Stetson can cement himself as a legend over the next 5 games (hopefully that many).

It's the culture we live in today. Nothing is ever good enough. No one enjoys the ride just for the rides sake, and anyone with 2 brain cells to rub together can be a vocal critic on the internet. It is humanity at it's most base level.

I was on the fence about Stetson. But after yesterdays game, I think he should start the games and if he goes down, at least we have a decent backup. I still think both Stetson and JT should have time on the field. I dont want to see the debacle that happened with Fromm and Fields though. I will continue to watch both Stetson and JT for the last three games and if Stetson proves he can do what Fromm did, then I am all in for Stetson to be our QB for the SECCG.

I'm probably the last one to figure this out, but it comes from some bizarre sense of entitlement.
We're 10-0 and instead of being happy about it, half this e-sewer is acting this is all owed to them. Like the team owes them some sort of debt. And they're uppity and dumbfounded that the team is paying them what they owe to them in wrinkled $50s and $20s instead of brand new crisp $1000 dollar bills. It's all so moronic and sad

The kid is a baller. Kirby and Monken see him every day in practice. They have confidence in him and so do I.
How many of you remember when Buck Belue played in the late seventies and early eighties? Not the most talented guy to ever suit up at Georgia but he was a baller.

I think he had one of his worst games to date but just now suddenly all these JT Worshippers are seeing this as the turning point for their allegiance. I don't buy it. I think what they are really "seeing" is that JT ain't getting back in the game and they are finally coming to understand that fact, like it or not, and their psyche is now free, finally, to compliment Stetson.

I thought JT should get a look or a chance. He got it and he blew it. Just like basketball go with the hot hand. Stet is def the hot hand.

I think Stet's mobility is the defining difference between the two guys right now.
That being said I would love to see JT get some deep ball throwing in against the next two opponents.

I've started to come around on getting all aboard the stet train but I simply disagree with this. How in the world did JT "blow it"? he was clearly the best QB all offseason as evidenced by the fact the coaches chose him to start. He played in essentially 2 games this year then missed half the season wtih injury.
Stetson has played very well, well enough to not give the job back up. But I don't think that in any way reflects on JT "blowing it".

You apparently missed preseason and the first few games. JT earned the starting role. He started what was hyped as the opener of the decade against Clemson (though apparently not 100% healthy) and continued to start until he aggravated an injury from preseason. I'm not sure how this qualifies as "he blew it."
If Bennett gets hurt in an upcoming game and then JT has to take over, will that mean Bennett then "blew it"?
The reality is that since returning from injury, Daniels hasn't gotten "a look or a chance." Whether you believe Kirby's varying stories (one week it's continuity; another week it's Bennett's scrambling ability; another week it's that Daniels still needs to "get better" - ironically a statement from today), Smart decided he wasn't going to reengage in QB competition at this stage.
Hopefully it won't result in another Fromm/Fields result. We could learn post-season that Daniels was never 100% and winds up having off-season surgery or something, but I think this is Kirby's pattern.
The part that's different is whereas Fields was on the sideline looking like he hated Kirby and everyone else, Daniels seems to be happy, rooting on the team, talking to Smart and Bennett... So who knows.

his demeanor looked different vs UT though, or maybe the producers were just waiting for JT to make faces before panning the camera to him.

That was the 70s and 80s. We're now consistently recruiting top three classes nationally. Once Bennett is gone...and let's hope he doesn't stick around to be a 25-year-old college student next season...we can get on with having elite players like we now have at virtually every other position.
