If convicted on all counts. Honestly I'm not sure that's enough time. A person died. It was all so avoidable. The whole thing is gut-wrenching.

He should go to prison. No way in hell he should be there 26 years. I don't the right amount of time. Years. But not two and half decades.

Amber Guyger got 10 years. That seems about right. Give Ruggs a decade.

People get less for 2nd degree murder. In some states they get less for rape. Count me out of the crowd that believes an awful decision that resulted in tragedy is the same as someone who intentionally ends someone else’s life or sexually assaults them.

It appears that he's going to jail for a very long time. He killed a young woman and ruined his life. Trying to denigrate a school over this simply diminishes the horror of this man's actions.

He needs to do what he does best.....RUN!!!!!!!!

As far as what should happen to him if he doesn't run, he should never leave prison you simply cannot pull what he did. If in the Middle East they'd chop his head off.

Sad for all parties. I hated to hear about the dog too. I've done my share of driving under the influence in my younger, stupider college days, but it was more like Cheech and Chong. Driving under the speed limit and being hyper-aware. Its hard to comprhend going 150+ MPH in a car sober, I can't imagine doing it under the influence. I'll pray for all parties. What a terrible mistake and a hard lesson to be learned.

13 or so years ago the wife of a prominent Jackson, MS old money guy killed two med students in a similar crash - she was drunk and speeding. Can’t remember her sentence, but I think she served two years.

When you get behind the wheel drunk, you know there is a risk of ending an innocent person's life. He deserves the maximum

The NFL literally has a car service available to players to avoid this very issue.

I feel for his family and the victim’s family. But it makes it very hard to have sympathy for Ruggs when we live in a day and age where this could be easily avoided. Especially when his own employer provides a service to avoid drunk driving.

Sad. Sad to see a woman lose her life and sad to see someone throw away their life.

I have zero remorse for him or anyone else who does what he did.

25 years is not long enough

Anybody here naive enough to think that this was the 1st time that Ruggs got reckless in that vehicle? Interested to see if anyone says it was likely the 1st time. I see mfers in chargers and mustangs cutting in and out of traffic at high rates of speed everyday. It is habit for reckless shite heads who don’t give a damn about the danger they present to others when driving like maniacs. I doubt he is the exception.

The Illegal immigrant that killed Colts LB Edwin Jackson and his driver plead out for 16 years. He’ll probably get a free plane ride home once he’s out too and be back in America 8 weeks later. Justice system is messed up

Unfortunate decision for him but outrageous. Ruggs belongs to stay in jail for taking an innocent life. If he was drunk but driving near the speed limit...I might get less time. But at over 150 MPH....even a sober driver should spend a good period of their life in jail for that decision.
