Glad to see him return, but really happy we're keeping Muschamp in the on field coaching slot

Agent Muschamp spent far too long in the wilderness and he needs to be rewarded for his efforts.

Put Cochran on s&c we clearly have a problem with all these injuries

We need him to beat the yips out of KJ10 on his kick/punt returns.

For the life of me, I don't understand why we aren't using Arian Smith in that role, given his insane straight line speed.

Cochran left bama because UGA was offering him an on field role and he was ready to start a coaching career in that capacity. If you put him back on S&C he won’t be here long.

Don't mess with success. Put him in an advisory position through the end of the season, then Muschamp will likely be a DC or HC somewhere else.

Was talking to a friend about this the other day. With all the success this year (and it really being somewhat sustained the last couple years) could we see Lanning getting his shot at an HC position? If that happens, would Boom be okay to slide right into our DC position?

I've been thinking Lanning will get poached, and then Kirby will slide Muschamp in with no issue since they spent the past year together.

Muschamp's kid is here now and I bet he wants to be in Athens for all 4/5 years Jackson has got.

Yeah, I cant see Lanning not getting a HC offer somewhere and Muschamp sliding into DC role just makes too much sense.

Pretty sure Bama wasn’t too sad to see him go because of all their injuries.

Do we know if Arian can catch punts? It’s not the same the as playing receiver. It’s one thing running stride for students after a ball or going up in a 50/50. Standing there waiting for a ball to drop 50 feet with 10 people running at you, watching your blocks set up, seeing where you are, fair catch, let it go, or make a return.
Not everyone can do it. I don’t remember if AJ green did or not, I don’t think so. Pickens hasn’t for sure.

Rather promote Schumann if Lanning leaves. Muschamp can fill Schumann's role. would hate to lose both Lanning and Schumann, and I'd bet Lanning would try to take Schumann to wherever he was hired.

It has kind of happened already but all our guys will be on somebody’s list. The arms race to pay assistant coaches will keep growing.

I would imagine Muschamp’s life is much better now. He has his buyout and another steady income plus being near his son. Frankly, his demeanor isn’t set out to be a HC from what I’ve seen. He is way more DC material to me. I bet he sleeps a lot better at night now.

Maybe so, but ego plays a lot in what coaches at this level do. If a P5 school offered him an HC position I'd bet he would jump at it. Doesn't mean he would suddenly be a good HC.

I would agree, except a fan from another team pointed out that we also have Schumann. The thought was that Schumann would slide into that role.

Do we take a chance putting Muschamp in the DC role only to see him get a HC position at a G5 school and leave? Do that Schumann could leave. (Muschamp probably won't be offered a P5 job for awhile, but if he goes to a G5 school and does well somebody might take a chance on him) Do we chance losing Schumann for a possible temporary fix?

I'm glad I don't have to make those decisions.

Yeah, but I don't buy that line of thinking.

If your team is getting gassed or being pushed around I can see that being an S&C problem. Injuries? About the only thing S&C would have to do with that is stretching out properly.

I don't see torn/strained ACLs being a result of S&C.
Things have changed mightily since i last played, but I just don't see that as anything but an excuse by Alabama fans. And if you check, they are still having a lot of injuries. Christian Harris immediately springs to mind.

I don't recall what the injuries were exactly, so it's hard for me to make a definitive call on if they could possibly be due to over training or not. But, I would imagine most teams do a lot of the same training...it is a matter of how much training they do and if they stretch out properly and do the necessary recovery after their workouts.

I would, too. I think he'd be better suited to calling the defense Georgia runs now.
