This one was different. This wasn’t a once in a lifetime performance by a QB like Garcia or a generational talent like Newton or Lawrence going off on Bama. This wasn’t a confluence of great talent and a great OC coming together at the right moment a la LSU 2019.

This was just a good, talented team off to a disappointing start putting all the pieces together and playing well while Alabama kept pointing the gun at our foot and pulling the trigger over and over.

Alabama has a long way to go. You’ve got a lot of young talent that doesn’t understand The Process and thinks they can walk out of the locker room in that Crimson jersey and win just because. The leadership vacuum that was left after last year is a chasm that needs to be filled. And finally, there are coaches that need to be sent packing, and Pete Golding is at the front of the line. We’ve seen 3+ years of his defensive disaster and it’s time for a change. Consistently subpar performances sprinkled with the occasional success (like last week’s Ole Miss game) is no longer excusable. And the list of excuses given has been long and monotonous. He has talent and he has players with experience. Yet, more often than not, they look lost and out of position.

Kirby has taken Saban’s defense and tweaked it to account for the evolution of offense and he has created a devastating weapon. Golding has taken what he was given and bastardized it into a complex Rube Goldbergesque contraption and a complete joke.

This loss was different because Alabama just got outplayed, outcoached, and outhustled. And it won’t be the last time this season unless drastic changes are made. Alabama scored 31 points on offense and 7 with special teams. The special teams play is a wash after we let Achane get loose on the kickoff. The offensive performance wasn’t pretty and there were plenty of mistakes but 31 points should be sufficient against a team that had scored a total of 32 points the 2 previous weeks. But it wasn’t, because Alabama gave up 41. That is no longer acceptable or excusable.

In 6 days we find out what the future of this team is. They are going to fold or they are going to overcome. Years past I could tell you the answer, this is the first time since 08’ I honestly don’t know what’s coming.

If Calzada threw a pass right now it would be to his tightend. We have no one that can cover a tightend?

An inconsistent team got got on the road by a talented and pissed off team who desperately needed a good showing in their super bowl.

I honestly think y’all are overreacting.

The flaws in this team are the exact recipe that cause teams to slip up and lose a close one on the road to a team you shouldn’t lose to.

They can’t afford to slip up again, they know it, and Auburn on the road is the only week that can really highlight ALL of the issues we saw yesterday.

Or that rb out of the backfield that we never covered.

Golding is just shite. Been shite, but was covered by a great OC last year. BoB is an idiot so both got exposed last night.

Lot's of streaks will end as long as Golding is still DC. We've now had the worst defense, Saban's streak against former assistants and the streak against unranked teams all occur under this DC.

Saban needs to go back to the drawing board like he did with the offense. Georgia proves you can still have a great defense. No excuse for a defense to be this bad with this much highly rated talent. They are poorly coached.

I agree, and if he makes Golding hit the road I hope he takes Freddie Roach with him.

Can we send O'Brien with them?

And that's what I think is most different. This year, not only does the DC suck but so does the OC.

Every loss Bama fans react this way…..

“This loss is different! Outcoached, outplayed…. ive seen this coming for a long time and it finally caught up to us…”

Blah blah blah.

Sometimes you get beat, end of story. It’s not the end of the world, or even the season.

If the team responds well to this, and go out and take care of business vs Miss State and Tennessee, then we are 7-1 going into the bye, and in great shape to accomplish any goals that we started out with.

Stop over-analysing. We lost a game we shouldnt have. And came back and took the lead after the worst first half possible. shite happens. Bama will be fine. Rolling on.

Do you ever watch football? This was different... It was a complete shite show by both coordinators. That isn't normal around here.

Streaks to be honest I am glad are over and tired of hearing about. And no one will ever touch.

And it happened in 2018 vs Clemson. And 2019 vs LSU…. And still the program rolled on.

No offense intended, as I am generally an optimistic Tide fan, but your post reminds me of Pangloss. This is the best of all possible worlds, if not the best of all possible Saturdays.

You seriously want to compare losing to two undefeated, national championship teams to giving up 41 to a dogshit Aggy team that scored 42 combined points against Colorado, Arkansas, and State?

But considering how often we have to replace them, did you really expect every single co-ordinator to be a great one? Not even Saban is infallible. As noted in other threads, I was never enamored with O'Brien, and have shared sentiments about Golding for at least 2 years now.

It reminds me of the South Carolina loss. Was that in 2010? I'll take 3 losses in the season if we win titles the next 2 years.

Im not comparing the losses/teams so much as the pathetic, defeatist, sore loser mentality from Bama fans where we say the same whiny shite all the time.

I just find it sad that, as a fanbase, we fear losing more than enjoy winning. It’s fine for Saban to think that way, but as a fan base I find it kinda pathetic.

Every throw to him was maddeningly perfect

The coverage against those plays wasn’t TERRIBLE

Yep. I was expecting him to look like and shite and it was very USCe 2010ish.

This happens in football and it’s happened to us before. Calzada played almost perfectly in the second half and then again at the end.

Who knows if he can ever do it again.

Time always tells.
