I watched some of this game but was not locked in so I missed most of the plays in the second half.

My biggest questions for Bama fans are how did Florida manage to move the ball and score while being so one dimensional?

What did Florida defense do to shut down that offense in the second quarter through the end of the game?

Ole Miss had 2 100 yard rushers (Conner and Ealy had over 120 each) in last year's game, and both are back this year. It would be concerning to me that Florida was able to score 29 points with a QB who finished with 195 yards and an INT, and 0 TDs. Ole Miss seems to have a much more complete offense than Florida.

We did it last year, too, but it was the other dimension :)

I think trading defense for offense has been a pretty consistent trend for Bama.

Every game is different.

The rhythm of that game was a quick 21-3 lead.
Bama held on for victory.
This made Saban upset because the team kind of peaked early and did not “win their one on one matchups” after the first quarter.

The team looked sharp against Southern Miss. I bet Young runs some for Bama since he has not really run much yet.

Mullen got our inside linebackers all confused-out of position. I fully expect Kiffin to go right at these two guys and a few of the corner 50-50 bombs

We were confused as hell playing the read option for some unknown reason. Mullen had a great scheme, found something that worked and pounded us with it.

Well, they didn't. They shut us down for 3 straight drives in the 2nd quarter. We only had 3 2nd half drives and all 3 were successful.

Our 2nd half drives went
- 13 plays, 75 yards, TD
- 14 plays, 64 yards, FG
- 6 plays, 18 yards, ran out the clock

1st Qtr
- 8 play, 75 yd, TD
- 7 play, 75 yd, TD
- 6 play, 38 yd, TD

2nd Qtr
- 3 play, -12 yd, Punt
- 3 play, 5 yd, Punt
- 3 play, 5 yd, Punt

3rd Qtr
- 13 play, 75 yd, TD

4th Qtr
- 14 play, 64 yd, FG
- 6 play, 18 yd, Run out Clock

Their OL pretty much dominated our DL, combined with poor tackling.

Bama penalties caused 3 consecutive 3 & outs in the 2nd quarter, which along with heat & humidity wore down Bama's D some. Critical Bama mistakes on 3rd & long plays kept UF's drives & momentum going. Bama scored on almost all of their few 2nd-half possessions.

Saban had mention in the press conf. that To"oto'o (MLB)was over correcting a lot of the defensive play calls. Meaning he was so worried about getting everybody in perfect spot that he ended up out of position many times.

Our Defense ran 2 DL for most of the game which in essence was a 2-4-5 defense. Not really something I was excited about as they didnt seem to be able to stop the running game and our ILB were confused most of the game. IMO our DL this year are good but not elite, they have experience but none are 1st rounders that are explosive. Our Corner play is OK and our Safety place is adequate.
Pretty much the same with our OL, it is adequate expect for our LT. Our WR are a drop-off from the last two years but was expected and I believe that they are coming into their own, glad for the OSU transfer. Running backs once again are SEC good but nothing like DH, Najee, Mark Ingram that could just take over a game. Pleasantly surprised with our QB as he seems pretty cool under pressure and looks the part.
FL came out a little flat in the first half but got the momentum and rode with it. Emory looked like a NFL QB but really the last two years we have made several look like that with our porous Defense.
Should be a good game with OM and will set the tone for the rest of the year for us.

Basically our MLB's had a really, really bad game. I'd be surprised if they do that again this season, but anything is possible.

Mullens was able to get our linebackers to overflow trying to get into the A and B gaps to stop runs up the middle.... Which caused us to lose containment on the ends.

Florida also mixed in enough passes to keep the linebackers second guessing themselves over the middle. When we had them in 3rd or long it was either missed tackles or penalties.

We also had a few untimely false penalties that killed second quarter drives.

Our defense looked soft and out of shape.

I'm surprised and thankful we won. It's never a good sign when the opponent RB's and QB's are always falling forward for an extra 2-3 yards on every single tackle.

If that same defense comes out this weekend, Kiffin is going to make them cry.

I don't know why people think the Southern Miss game was somehow better. It was Southern Miss. Let's see how they do against a proper offense.

I hope our offensive game plan involves a lot of clock eating and long sustained drives.

To answer your question:
They controlled the line of scrimmage.
It should be an interesting game.

Y'all please do us a favor..........don't let us get up 3 quick TDs....we'll just mentally quit if you do.
