Love this call by Kendal
-First you set this up by running the ball effectively
-We move number 10 to the opposite side to see what kind of coverage they are running
-Once KJ sees its just man to man, he knows the only thing he has to worry about is the bottom saftey on the screen
-The safety bites hard because he is worried about the run
-KJ, Briles and the whole team will gladly take Burks 1v1 every time
-Even if the safety doesn't bite you still have 10 wide open because his defender was worried about the run as well

The setup to Green was the tits on the other TD

We have so much room to improve on offense. We look like a well oiled machine on plays like this and then 3 plays later we have committed 2 false starts, fumbled a hand off and thrown a slant 3 miles over the receivers head. If we stay healthy we will wreck some of the weaker SEC teams on the back half of the schedule.

In his media appearance after the game, Burks said they’d seen something on film that A&M was doing where they rolled into single coverage looks that led them to call this play. The safety would cheat up in run protection and leave that side of the field virtually wide open if Burks could beat his man.
He said he sort of looked over and motioned to Briles and Briles called that play.

That is good stuff
I know people will go back and forth on Briles during the year because that is just how it is sometimes with OC play calling but the mind is clearly there to be a great OC in CFB.

We've done the same thing 2-3 times this year where we line Green up at WR and motion him into the backfield on 3rd and medium and he's wide open in the flats and it goes for a big gain. I called it when I saw him line out wide haha.
Get enough of it on film and we'll be able to run all sorts of other plays off of it.

I'm super hard on him but also have to remember the team has to execute and recognize things.
KJ is still learning and its a pretty complicated offense. If he misses a read or someone else does, it makes Briles look bad etc.
It was a little odd we moved from the run at times and didn't give Rocket/AJ some looks as opposed to Smith. And our tempo is so bizarre at times. We go fast for 3 plays with major success, then we're up there clapping and looking at the sideline for the entire play clock and wind up calling a timeout or get a penalty. And we left the defense on the field for a long, long time. That will bite us at some point this year.
And I would have liked to see them work play action more but its hard given we still haven't identified a functional TE.

I’m interested to see what our offense looks like in a game like Georgia where we’re not likely to be in a position to cruise or call plays conservatively. A healthy Burks and Jefferson could put up ridiculous numbers if push came to shove. These go routes are probably a bigger part of our offense than we realize yet.

I don’t hate on Briles. I think we are lucky to have him, but I hated the call on 4th and 1 at the end of 2nd. Surely we can get a power formation with our 250 lb QB to get 1 yard.

Should've ran that fullback dive we ran later in game. Or lined up for it and QB sneak. Wasn't it only like half a yard?

The real problem is they want to hurry up those plays and that means you are limited on your play calling or you force things they don't really fit from a personnel perspective. Maybe they will slow it down more for big plays like that though.

I think it was like 2.5 yards.
I personally would have kicked the field goal, but I dont hate the call going for it there. What I hated was the play call....why give it to the smallest guy on the field right there? It should have been #20 or KJ running the ball right there, no one else.
