Bobo was putrid as a play caller for 3+ quarters today and did ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to help out his QB. And, because of this, Nix’s nerve broke step by step to the point that he returned to his natural Malzahn-basket-case self.

When Finley came in, not only did the QB position calm down, with the exception of a couple of plays the play-calling did too. And that isn’t said to take anything away from Finley because he manages to do something that isn’t at all in Nix’s nature… calmness in the pocket. Both TJ’s calm, measured performance *and* Bobo and Mason pulling their collective heads out of their asses is what saved this game.

So, IMO, game-balls to TJ and Zakoby.

And is it too controversial for me to say that, as of now, Hunter is our best running back and should be starter?

Uhh, yeah. They sold out to not let us get the run going. Tank or Hunter didn't have much room to operate.

Tank is still Tank.

The fact that a game against GA State has to be saved tells us how utterly fricked we are.

But I will still enjoy this win and the way other fanbases are melting over it.

I am hoping this was just getting the PSU funk off us........I am hoping.

IF our OL play continues like it did today, we are fricked. That was pathetic.

This.

The embarrassment and shame I feel for AU having to pull a game against GA State out of our collective asses in the final seconds is ameliorated somewhat by how absolutely fricking miserable tRantards are that we didn't lose

This is the year. Bo Nix has improved so much under this new offense. He’s focused. He’s having fun. I wouldn’t be surprised if he’s a dark horse for the Heisman.

Offensive line was bad today. We had two backs averaging nearly 10 yards a carry going into this game. I doubt Georgia State is that much better than Penn State, part of that had to be focus.

Whatever changes we made at half on defense needs to happen going forward. Finally started getting pressure, guys weren’t running open all over the field. I know Zakoby made a difference, but it looks like we finally started blitzing and playing man. This defense has talent, we just need to scheme around them.

For all those still defending Bo. I get it. He is frustrating because there are obvious good plays between so many bad ones. I honestly thought he was our best chance to win heading into the 98 yard drive. But while Bo might be the more “talented” QB, Finley makes the big plays that Bo just simply can’t. Sure he missed some open throws too, and was far from perfect, but when we needed a play, he stayed calm, kept the play alive, and made something happen. Bo would not have finished that drive off. He might have got us the down the field, but he wasn’t making the play kn 4th down.

I don’t think we are as bad as we played today, but it sure as hell isn’t getting easier from here kn out.

Bobo’s play calling has been terrible. A simple RB screen probably would’ve went to the house with the way their linebackers were attacking the line of scrimmage. Zero quick slants to back them up (these are easy throws for struggling QBs). Not bringing in extra blockers on run plays that could’ve opened things up.

The best play was the jet sweep to Shivers, because they were keying on Tank. Why not keep 2 backs in, so they can’t key on one?

Also, Nix is a weapon running the ball. He should have at least 8 designed runs a game.

Bo has gotten very little help from his OL and WRs, and at times his OC. However, today it looked to me that Georgia State was totally selling out to stop the run and the gameplan seemed to be to get Bo more practice passing. The fact that he couldn't manage the game against a Sun Belt team is beyond alarming. We saw how fragile the "improved Bo" is today against a team he should have thrown all over. Gus broke him and he looks ultimately beyond fixing.

Nah man. I heard this same shite in 2019 and 2020. It was Gus the Moron causing Bo to suck arse.

Here we are again with shitty play by Bo Nix and blaming the play calling.

There’s so much we don’t see as armchair quarterbacks. I can’t tell you if Bobo’s play calling was truly bad in the sense that we didn’t have options open. Maybe the play call required the right timing with the right read and a good throw? Or a proper check down if the defense showed a particular look?

The only consistent problem is Bo Nix.

Bobo and mason have been awful.

They feel like two guys just hanging onto jobs just so they can be head coaches again. They have sucked so far.

Even when he scrambles now, he looks scared to tuck it and run. I know they want him to keep his eyes up and look for guys clearing open. But at some point, he's got to make a decision.

Yep. Watching Emory Jones right now, and he’s as accurate as Nix. But that guy will take off and run. He makes people pay when everything is covered. Nix could also, but he just runs backwards.
