Why are OU and Texas on this list? They haven't played in the SEC in any of those years

They haven't finished higher than 6. They have been higher than 6 though. They almost finished #4 in 2012 but Louisville and Teddy B put a damper on that.

If you literally go back one more year Arkansas finished #4.

Funny thing is when South Carolina had their one season when they finished ranked #4 in 2013 they didn’t act like they were some perennial top 5 team that’s always in the national championship picture.
