In almost every regard.
Yeah, its just Akron. But this is how Auburn is *supposed* to beat teams like Akron and that's just one thing (numbering amidst a whole host of things) that has been missing from The Plains for a long, long time.

That's the big thing for me, they're doing what they're supposed to do. Not shooting themselves in foot against inferior competition.

Or not running the same shite over and over again regardless of the situation.
This has been fun as frick

A goose egg looks great on the scoreboard no matter who the opponent is also

I like how we’re completely forgetting that Gus did do this to teams.
Not everytime but we did have plenty of games like this. Good night for us but let’s settle down a little bit

Yeah he did it with a 6 play playbook.

You’re absolutely right… comparing it to other coach’s fist games… Tubs almost lost to D-1AA app state, Chiz looked sluggish vs La Tech, and Gus had a solid outing vs Wash St at home.

Agreed, but there were the games like Mercer and JSU that should have also been similar to this. But they weren't.
We've all been traumatized by the Gus patented slow start more times than not. It's just nice to see a different movie.

Yes, and many also forget the Gus teams generally looked pretty stale and terrible doing it.
And then there were the 27-20's against Jax State, the 24-13's against Southern Miss, the 24-6's against Tulane, etc.
If you're trying to shine a "brighter" light on Gus's program, his boring teams and their performances against lower-level squads isn't one of them. Unless, of course, you are a fan of running up the middle 2 out of every 3 plays, then sprinkling in a WR sideline screen and a 50-yd bomb occasionally. Then, yeah, enjoy those awesome memories of yours.

Right. During the 2017 season and sandwiched between Georgia and Alabama we had to run Kerryon 22 times just to add breathing room to our 14-7 halftime lead against the mighty Louisiana Monroe warhawks. We did it but not enough.

I like Gus -- and yes, from time to time he did give a team a similar shellacking on the scoreboard. But the balance shown by this team tonight was impressive. We didn't run one running back or one receiver or one type of play to death. There were 8 rushers and 9 receivers recording yardage. One TE alone (Shenker) caught 5 passes. Only 3 penalties for 25 yards. 600 yards of offense, and half of it was passing. Better overall QB play than we've seen in a long time, against ANY opponent.
It was refreshing.

I’m excited about Auburn football for the first time in several years, this is what is expected at Auburn vs Akron type opponents. Bo looked really good, not bailing out but this is Akron and not Penn St. I’m waiting to see how he performs them to say Bo has gotten over the Gus funk.

Looking forward to Gus not being the center of conversations after football games. 8 years was enough for me

Recruits should love this performance! There was something for everyone. I hope the WR from Oregon commits to us soon.

quote:This probably actually won't be true until maybe half way through the season depending on how we perform. We'll be comparing for a while, I'm sure.
