Before, the area around the Gamecocks' stadium looked awful.
Now, it actually looks really nice. They've planted lots of trees and greatly improved the surrounding area.
Congrats, Carolina, on a job well done.

True story. When we went to South Carolina the first time there was a front page news article advocating that women be allowed to bring Mace to the game for the walk back to campus.
We had no issues that weekend and went to the Loose Cockaboose after the game. Had a great time and we had no problems at all afterward and I don't remembering any Ags saying they had a different experience. Something was going on at that time if people bringing Mace to a game was under any kind of consideration whatsoever.
edit... just saw the photos. VERY NICE. That looks pretty awesome.

They went from the worst to one of the best. This is directly across the street from the stadium:

No reference to the million dollar golden cock statue?

That is pretty damn solid.

They really have done a phenomenal job. It used to be the equivalent of an old NFL stadium in the middle of a giant parking lot.
The changes are pretty remarkable and I would imagine they make the experience as a fan/season ticket holder much more fun.

This is the area that it replaced... The University definitely made some much needed improvements.

That's a fantastic job on South Carolina's part. Very well done.

The old state farmers market was an institution, but it looked so rough at the end. The last time I went in there was for the 2010 Alabama game. I believe the market had closed earlier that year but all the buildings were still up, so all the tailgaters just sort of piled in there haphazardly.

Finally...that fairgrounds needed some shade.

Looks awesome! Last time I went to a game there the fair was going on and you could see it from inside the stadium all night. The surrounding areas were horrible! Glad they upgraded it.

It has been like that for years(at least 5), no?

Looks a lot better. Last time I was there those old rust fairgrounds were atrocious to look at.

Even the Gamecock signage that began over a decade ago under Spurrier is a huge improvement.
There was a time in the not so distant past that all the walls in and around the stadium were blank save for the logo at mid-field. From the outside the uninitiated wouldn't know who even played there.
