Today is the day many will decide to stay or go.

Godspeed to all my Louisiana and fellow Gulf Coast brethren.

Keeping y'all in our thoughts and prayers in Louisiana and all along the Gulf. I know when we had the massive tornadoes hit in Moore, y'all came up and helped. That's something I've never forgotten. Stay strong

My advice for what it's worth. This is playing out like Michael: strong storm, but nothing extraordinary on the models. Ida gets in the warm Gulf and BOOM! Cat 4 and climbing. I ALMOST didn't change my mind in time, I was going to ride it out. About 12 hours before landfall, with him still strengthening, I chickened out and bailed. Don't be me. Make your preparations now and GTFO! When you realize you've screwed up, it may be too late. Godspeed, Cajun fam.

My cousin Leigh Anne has decided to ride out on the storm and her apartment complex (which is already having structural issues) is only a block or so away from the beach.

I will be honest, 9 months out of the year I loved the climate of the Gulf Coast area. I hated summer for not only the weather but the traffic. But I really do not miss hurricane season. Because if you stay on the coast long enough its not if you are going to get hit, its when and how bad.

Not good.. not good at all. Ida is about to go over some really deep, really hot water, with basically perfect conditions.

Thoughts and prayers sent to anyone in the cone.. stay safe and get out now if you can. This one is going to be real messy..

Also, does RollTide from the website formerly known as hardcoreweather.com post here? It shut down this past year and I was curious if he set up shop elsewhere. It was a great resource for a long time.. I still remember following Katrina there..

This storm is following a very similar path to Camille..

Hurricane Camille

Hurricanes are serious issues. My prayers are with any who are involved with them in any way

When I lived in Texas I worked Katrina and Harvey. Worked with local church's as a base. Georgia Baptist provided us showers. Texas Baptist provided warehouses for me to send truck loads of sheetrock, insulation and other supplies. Thankful for the "Cajun Navy", who worked tirelessly when they came to South Texas to work Harvey. Havn't used the app on my phone for communicating with them since Harvey.

It is hot, nasty work. I was one of the people who was chosen to explain to owners of property "yes we can clean and dry your stuff, but the mold will come back. You can throw it away now, while we have services to haul it off or you can throw it away later on your own" Heartbreaking to deal with widows/widowers who lost so many memories.

This appears to be coming in at a Cat3, so I imagine many will ride it out

Y’all keep that mess on the coast. It’s supposed to be in Tennessee as a depression on Wednesday now.
