Coaching wise, Wilks is very experienced and I think he'll do well as our new DC, but it's still an unknown since he hasn't been in the college game for a while.
These situations seem to rarely work, IMHO. I still remember when Joe Kines was brought in to try and shore us up.
Then again, we were a shitshow, so prolly not fair to put that on him. Only so much of a meal you can make with moldy bologna and rotted fish.

Questions, so many questions
1) Will Leach's offense work in the SEC?
That is the question that looms in many peoples mind. Many don't even question it, they say it won't work. I say it will work but the team itself has questions:
2) Will Rogers is the QB, will he be able to run this offense effectively? He did OK toward the end of the year and that's pretty darn good for a true freshman. I am ready to see what an offseason of work has done for him.
3) How well will this group of WR's perform? Lots of talent there but they have to get on the same page with each other with route running and get timing down with the QB.
3) Will they do a better job of running it like they did toward the end of the year? Leach's best teams ran the ball more than most think.
4) OLine - Will they learn to block someone? - The wide gaps make blocking completely different along the interior of te OL. I do believe it can work with the right player and Leach is doing work there but will it show improvement be this year. It better or it's going to be a long year.
5) Will they just Run the damn BALL? They did in a few games toward the end of the year and it did work. We know it's part of Leach's offense but it's designed to be on the QB to recognize when to use it.
6) Redzone scoring - Will there be a big WR or two step up this year? Will they run the dang ball like they di at the end of the year at least some? Leach's redzone has always been a question mark. He needs a dude WR that goes and gets it will they find him or if not will they employ running more in the zone like they did in a couple games last year toward the end.
7) Will they learn not to get our RB's blown up so much by LB's with those late swing passes, you do know those LB guys are fast in the SEC don't you?
8) Defense? Nope, we good and they are going to be good. The only question is how many will be All SEC at the end of the year because none were preseason. Those guys will be good. Period, you just hide and watch.

Do you think he learned after the issues with Canada?
Canada was forced onto O by Alleva after Kiffin took the FAU job.
Canada messed up the OL coaching when they had 3 freshman starters by having them worry about motions instead of fundamentals
O beat his arse on the practice field when Canada challenged him

Defensive backfield. We have 2 good transfers and some great, but unproven, talent. DL and LB's are both very good, so if we can be solid in the backfield, our defense should be very good.

There were more problems with Pelini from a non-coaching perspective than there were with coaching. And his coaching and schemes sucked too

Biggest will be O Line. Without them we are lost. Close behind is our QB assuming the O Line can produce. If we don’t have an accurate QB we will regularly face 8-9 in the box and it will be a long year.

Sorry about that, I got you confused with the other am poster that posted on the OT that he had quit smoking.
and no, I did not search your post history.

I mean everything.
But the biggest think is if Heupel can just run a competent program.

Wha?
Maybe linebacker.
OL is set
WRs set with the best WR class coming in to supplement
TE is set with Bech moving there to help
QB is a competition between two good starters
DL is the deepest and most talented under O
LB has tons of talent but no set starters
CB is the best room since 2011
S seems to be set (thanks Georgia) and also has tons of talent
We’re loaded without many questions.
And all unproved, that is the point. After watching that defense last year my confidence isn't exacty through the roof here. Surely they'll be better just by not having Pellini's arse on the sideline, but who knows?

QB
But with the talent that Sark is stacking and with Arch Manning coming in a couple years, I have no doubt this will be a big strength soon.

Sheer depth is my main concern. If we play like we played last year the team will fight hard, but we have a dearth of SEC talent on the squad. I think the Pittboss will get us there eventually but I expect we will lose some games this year just from running out of players.
Is Bumper Pool coming back for his 7th campaign?

Possibly Ole Miss or State

I believe you guys have the least amount of question marks of any team in the conference. This is rather minor, but I would say it's offensive identity. Is it run first with Zamir White or air it out with Daniels and Burton?

Fair enough.
In our new world, it’s a weird feeling to think Aggies and Bayou Bengals will soon have a common hatred of the Berkeley Bevos.
