Word is A&M has left a message with the SEC office secretary to express their displeasure.

Sankey was unavailable.

No way the Buckeyes will ever leave the Big 10, way too much tradition. Same with Michigan. Neither has anything to gain by joining the SEC. Not money as a 20 team mega conference would mean the money is split 20 ways. Not even ESPN could cover that amount of tv rights.

Again?

Michigan and OSU aren't going anywhere BTW.

Get OU, TX, PSU, Mich, tOSU, and ND. Then, put a bow on it and start the Great American Conference.

Would enjoy a few snowy fall venues personally.

We'll revisit this post once more fuel is added to the smoke. Something bigger is going on behind the scenes.

Back when I was an undergrad at LSU, I took History of the American Black Athlete. It was History 40(something). This was back in like 2004.

The professor said that college football is moving toward all the teams from the major conferences joining, and playing only each other, a la the NFL. And the Tulanes, the USM's, the UAB's, the Memphises, and the Western Michigans will be left out, and will be left to play only each other. At the time, I thought it was so far fetched, but apparently we are closer to it now than ever.

I think you’re missing the signs that the SEC is just the basis for the new league. There won’t be an SEC per se. There will be the “American College Football League” or something like that with four 16-team divisions.

Exactly...
So many on here and other boards are not seeing the big picture of what's goin' down here. This is way more than adding blowU and tu to add more mouths to feed. This thing is getting very interesting. Personally, I think the addition of the little guys following A&M will be AWESOME! Trips to Norman and Azztin will be fun.

I agree. But it's looking more like a 20 team league. If Clemson, OSU, Michigan and FSU are showing interest, it's beginning to look like a full blown break from the NCAA. This may turn out to be a East vs West league. B12 will dissolve, PAC will have to get their house in order and add the left overs from B12.

While this seems far fetched, it could shine light on why Penn St is rumored to be looking at the ACC. Ohio State and Michigan leaving collapses the B1G.

Of course it is, but that fact doesn't make the thought less awesome For how CFB could be.

Hell, why not just expand and restructure to get the best 64 teams available. Create 4 x 16 team conferences (2x 8 team division each). Break from the the NCAA and start an NFL-lite collegiate structure with Div winners and wild cards in playoffs. Conference champs decided in playoffs en route to Collegiate Superbowl like the NFL. Playoff games are played at historic bowl game sites after the wild card round.

Could pare it down to 32 team league, if we really wanted top tier play each week and more hurt feelings all around

But why is everyone coming to the SEC to form this new league? I really can’t see traditional powerhouses like Ohio State bowing down to the SEC for this to happen.

I’m also curious about how smaller SEC schools would fit into this. Does this new league limit itself to 20 powerhouses and tell Vanderbilt to kick rocks? Does Miss St and Arkansas have precedent over Ohio St? Does Iowa and Wisconsin get left out?

I think the BIG10's response to covid has alot to do with it. SEC said play ball frick covid. BIG10 said shut it all down. Players lose cause no ball, colleges lose because lost money.

Any input or links from Clemson, OSU, Michigan, or FSU admin debunking this rumor? Every report linked or that I found all report to the same Barstool Report. No other sources cited. Seems OSU and Michigan would immediately deny the report since B1G is looking to expand as well.
