The PAC 12 isn't taking any religiously affiliated members.

None of the remaining Big 12 schools add significant value, but the Pac 12 has to do something to avoid becoming further irrelevant and isolated from the rest of college football. It can't expand north, south, or west, so if it allows another league to take the only remaining viable programs on its eastern border then it will be forever isolated. It needs new recruiting ground besides California. Grabbing TTU, TCU, Ok St, and Kansas would be wise. It would give them a geographically contiguous East division of Arizona, AZ St, Utah, Colorado, TTU, TCU, Ok St, and Kansas, while keeping the 8 West schools happy as the original Pac 8 in California, Oregon , and Washington.

The Pac12's tv revenue is as bad or worse than the Big12, so their new commissioner had better get that fixed. Heck, you might see some of the better Pac12 schools jump ship to the B1G if they can get more tv revenue.

They would never consider BYU and likely not Baylor, but I don't think the religious aspect would block TCU. It's not hard core religious and fairly liberal.

If the PAC wanted to expand, they would have the pick of the litter on the west coast.
But who is available on the west coast? They are surrounded by water and foreign nations on 3 sides. Boise and BYU will never happen. An additional California school like SDSU or Fresno does nothing for them. About all that is left are schools like Nevada, New Mexico, Colorado St, etc. If the Pac 12 doesn't make its move now, they are essentially conceding that they want to remain at 12 teams with only California as a major recruiting source and isolated from the other time zones. They badly need Texas eyeballs watching their product.

Wrong...OSU and ISU bring in the midwest market, especially ISU in Big 10 country...

The ACC is the one who should be worried. They are already surrounded by the B1G and the SEC. If they want to expand, they will need to pull somebody out of those conferences.............or go way to their west.
The ACC is already at 14. Assuming they lock down Notre Dame as expected, they are solid. They could go after Penn State or Maryland from the Big 10, Memphis or Cincinnati would jump at the chance. As a last resort, any of the Florida directional schools from the AAC would be an option.
What they desperately need is for Miami or FSU to return to their level of dominance. FSU in particular is a sleeping giant.

not immediately. Give those schools the added revenue and recruiting uptick they would get from being in the Pac, and they could become legitimate programs down the road. That goes for many of the schools in that region.

It's not totally about markets anymore. Cable boxes were 10 years ago. Streaming is king. Content is King.
College football is losing viewership because it's a bad product.
PAC12 needs more people watching their games. I mean if I were the ACC I would beg for Baylor / TCU. Private institutions who have had major success last 10 years. More recognizable brand than ANY mountain west school.
I always thought PAC12 would give everything for Texas TT TCU Baylor to join if OU Ok St ever left BIG12.
USC vs TCU and Oregon vs Baylor is a billion times more lucrative than USC vs UNLV or Oregon vs San Diego St

I do agree that the BIG10 is lurking for most of the best PAC 12 schools
Washington
Oregon
California
Stanford
USC
UCLA
Arizona
Utah
Colorado
Kansas
Are all AAU institutions and would be a contiguous footprint from West - East coasts.
That conference would be a 24 team monster.

TCU and Baylor bring zeeeeero. Small following, few eyes for TV, and they are geographically bad for PAC 12 fans that want to go to a game. Tech barely fits in the B12. They have nothing to bring to the PAC 12.

It still doesn't solve the Pac 12's biggest problems. They have only one fertile recruiting area for the entire conference and they are isolated on a time zone no one else stays awake for. Adding SDSU or Fresno would only further dilute the product by splitting up more southern California recruits. The Pac 12 already has 4 California teams with every other conference program relying heavily on California for talent.

I don’t think you understand how small the TCU and Baylor fan bases are. They do not move the needle and are not going to bring many streaming viewers at all.

So you think the Big 12 schools are the answer? Imagine the money it would cost to play away games every year half way across the country.

The ACC is in great shape. Notre Dame looks like a likely addition, Penn St is flirting with leaving the Big 10 to join the Irish, Rutgers is rumored to be leaving the Big 10 as well, Maryland is supposedly having buyers remorse, West Virginia is ripe for the taking with all their rivals already in house, and they’re located close to several solid mid majors in Cincinnati, Memphis, the service academies, UCF, USF, ECU, Coastal, App St, Liberty, UMass, etc. The ACC would have no shortage of suiters that could compete right away.
The Big 10 is in a great spot to scoop up the leftover members of the old big 12 north like Iowa St, Kansas, and Kansas St.
What litter?
The PAC 12 is the one with the toughest path to 16 if Texas goes to the SEC. Most of the money programs west of the rockies are already in the PAC 12. Texas and BYU are the two big jewels available to them. With Texas potentially off the board and BYU undesirable for pr, political, and logistical reasons, who’s left?
They can choose from a couple little brothers from the imploded Big 12 (Texas Tech and Oklahoma St), religious schools that offer similar pr challenges as BYU (TCU and Baylor), promote a competitive mid major in a small market (Boise St, Wyoming, Nevada, New Mexico), promote a mid major from within the existing footprint (Fresno St, San Diego St, Colorado St, Air Force), go way outside their footprint to the American/Sunbelt/CUSA, or go after a mid major in a decent-sized market with serious facilities issues and a lack of onfield success (Hawaii, UNLV).
So, the PAC 12 would need 4 teams out the of the Mountain West and Big 12, but likely wouldn’t be able to grab any of the ones that actually add value.

Cincinnati and Memphis would be good fits to the ACC. They also could snag WVU or lock in ND. They have 4 strong teams to pick 2 from to hit 16 teams

The ACC is phucked. They have no vision or leadership. Still acting like a few little schools on Tobacco Road waiting on Basketball Season. Just phuckkk Bob Goin to hell. He is the AD that lead FSU off into the ACC!
