He said he had been committed a week. Already met some players. Seen the playbook. Considers it an open competition.

You can't teach throws like this

Every QB that played for Gus as a HC should also have the opportunity to do this as payback for ruining their careers

this is what harsin has said so far about tj.

But now he has fresh start at Auburn in a system that seems to be better suited to his skillset, and he’ll add, at the very least, an insurance policy for the Tigers behind Nix. First, though, he’ll try to edge him out during the summer and fall camp, adding an intriguing storyline to Auburn’s offseason.

“Competition keeps you focused,” Harsin said. “Competition gets you up and out of bed in the morning and drives you toward improvement. And so, there’s nothing wrong with that. And I think that’s something I hope our players understand. Like, that’s not a bad thing.”

Hopefully Harsin isn't full of crap like ole Gussy. Remember the QB 1A and 1B, or the "they're both going to play a lot" bs comments in 2019? All the while, he was licking that Nix nut sack to try and save his job.

I haven't seen anything out of Harsin to date that reminds me of Gus.

Thinking the same thing. He is the anti-Gus in every way.

Culture guy vs. System guy
Hires competent assistants vs. Hires 'yes men'
Development guy vs. "Stars" guy
Ripped guy vs. Guy with tits
Competition guy vs. favorites guy

Sounds about right to me.

Personality wise, I liked what I saw of Gustav. Probably more than any other AU HC since Shug; Dye was too much like Bryant for my taste, Bowden was a Bowden, only more so, Tubs was a used car salesman turned politician, and Chiz seemed a little too holier-than-thou to be trusted.

Of course Gustav was a paranoiac with a stubborn streak who seemed to just give up being actively concerned with the direction of the program over the last couple of seasons. But initially he seemed pretty likable (of course being a huge success right out of the gate probably biased me somewhat in his favor )

But Harsin may be the first AU HC in nearly 50 years that actually sounds like he knows what he's talking about. That may not translate to gridiron success, but I give him credit for talking a good game.

This is what gives me hope. Low T Gus rubbed off on the players.

Heard an interesting podcast w/ an LSU beat writer.

He said that Finley really still wanted to stay at LSU, bc he just loved being on that team, but his parents pushed him hard to transfer out(He even was quoted as saying his parents think they know what he wants, but they don't).

Also, his parents want his younger brother to play w/ TJ in college. He's a 23 3* WR, but not real fast. The reporter said it will be interesting if Harsin recruits and brings in his brother, as part of a package deal..

He also said that Finley is definitely SEC calibre QB, if he improves on his decision making and reduces his INTs.

Sorry, but until convinced otherwise ...Finley is nothing more than overrated miserable quarterback, losing so badly ...he was benched so that LSU could get better.

But the jury is still out ...

He was the 499th ranked player in his class. Calling the kid overrated and miserable is a little dramatic.

It's not over dramatic until Finely proves otherwise ...

Maybe the level of talent he has, is best served on a Division Two program, where his talent is level with those around him.

LMAO.

He came in as a true freshman in the COVID year (less preparation time) and had no business playing. He was forced onto the field against the heart of LSU's schedule (he took the snaps against the majority of the best defenses they played) after the starter went down with an injury. He played a whopping 5 games, looked good at times, and looked very bad at other times.

That's your "hot take"? He came in and struggled as a true freshman against Alabama, A&M, Auburn and therefore he should transfer down to D2 where his talent is more appropriate?

He should fit in fine with our OL.

Likely the only time he’s watched Finley was the Auburn game. LSU was 2-3 with him at QB but the three losses were against maybe the three best defenses in the conference. Disregard he was excellent against USCe, who we struggled to throw against.
