#BREAKING: Former @HawaiiFootball quarterback Colt Brennan has died at 37, sources tell @HawaiiNewsNow.

I realize this isn't really SEC related, but thought people would wanna hear that don't make it over to the MSB.

His father said Colt Brennan was in his fifth month at a rehabilitation facility in California when he was found unconscious. He died Monday at a hospital in Newport, Califorina.

"He was doing so well, the spark was back in his eyes, and he was healthy and doing great, and it happened," Terry Brennan told the newspaper.

He had a pretty good game against us in Tuscaloosa Shula last year. Had a throw to the Endzone on the final play to tie it but it was Intercepted

I was at the Bama-Hawaii game in 2006 in Tuscaloosa. Brennan was an outstanding QB and took Bama to the wire.

Terrible news. Was one of the coolest stories in college football in the mid 2000s.

RIP

Sounds like he died in a rehab facility. I'd prob guess he had a relapse and had an OD. That's sad. I had no idea he had been battling substance abuse like that. 5 months straight at an in-patient rehab facility is a long time.

May he RIP!

I wonder when we will start treating “RX drug addiction” as the issue it is!

Don’t remember hearing about that.

No idea if it’s the case here, but brain injuries can certainly affect someone’s personality and lead to uncharacteristic changes in behavior (often in a bad way).

It’s terrible reading about his subsequent struggles. I hope his family can now find some peace moving forward.

Rehab is for more than just drugs or alcohol. It can be to recover from physical problems as well. My mom, for example, just returned from a stay at a rehab clinic after nearly dying from an illness. It took a month for her to be able to get back on her feet.

Whether it was drugs or just some lingering after effect of that bad car wreck this is a sad thing. 37 is way too young to die.

Sometimes just admit your response was in poor judgment and move on. Don't keep doubling down.

RIP Colt.

My brother was in rehab for almost a year and was only released because he needed permanent care. Brain injuries can take a very long time. His stay had nothing to do with drug/alcohol rehab but it was rehab nonetheless.

I would not say for sure what his stay was about until it is stated somewhere.

We do know that Colt had issues with alcohol, that has played out in public. Brain injuries are real, and can require long term rehab and even cause personality changes that lead to the drug/alcohol problems.

Just saying
