79, 92, 09 is (3) from 1979-2010, the years in which you referenced. More than 98% of college football in a Bama down period.

LSU should roll out of bed and hit their heads against the headboard on 10 wins a season, with the high school talent in Louisiana and no other power 5 school in the state. Also with the proximity to Texas.

If he'd said thru 2010, it would have been FOUR!

But you just said:

It is LSU that is much closer of going back to irrelevance.

So which is it? There's no tangible asset that Alabama has that will keep them in the title conversation every year after the GOAT Saban is gone.

Alabama's historical success is built on being a blue blood and then being lucky enough to have two GOAT coaches.

Maybe they hire another GOAT, maybe not, who knows.

LSU can’t get out of the way of itself, that is as tangible as you can get. Watch and see. LSU is in a window right now that could be opened or shut. If it is shut and not you lay a 7-5 or 8-4 record this season, it closes that much more. You are on the Brink one way or another. Your program is headed towards the crossroads, you better watch out, you better not blink, that truck may hit you blindside at the crossroads. Where are you at LSU, are you going to take that next step of consistency or maybe 5-5 record. What is it? Is it irrelevance knocking at your door?

Again The evidence is there, Bama is a Historical Blue Blood that will not go away for long, ever. History, resources, culture. We border Georgia and Florida, as well as have solid High School Football. Not to mention A national presence, TV ratings bonanza. Bama draws people, money(espn), people love to watch, love to hate. 2023 will be the best high school recruiting class in the state of Alabama. The Bama locomotive is at the top of the mountain and gaining steam.

6-10 more years of the goat, every recruiting class has a ring! It will take years for the locomotive to reduce its steam OR do we just keep refueling.

Nick Saban is the all time greatest college coach ever. I say that as a LSU fan. I'm just pissed like many LSU fans that he didn't continue is coaching career at LSU. It started off so well.

From a Win-Loss perspective, 2015 class is the GOAT.

That said, the 2009's collective 3 national titles may be impossible to top.

As others have said, we won three during that period (1979, 1992, and 2009) to go along with six SEC titles. Not too shabby when the vast majority of that period was considered a "down era" by most Alabama fans.

Also...since 1960, the longest an Alabama football team has gone between national championships is 15 years (1993-2008) and the main reason why we fell off for that long is because we were hit with major NCAA sanctions twice during that period (1995 and 2002).

#2 Bama beat #1 PSU on Jan 1, 1979 to secure an AP national championship for the 1978 season

Alabama has won a national championship in 5 of the last 6 decades and will soon make it 6 of 7. The single decade without a national championship, Bama played for the championship in the 89 season. Bama has won SEC championships in 6 straight decades under 4 different coaches. The last 8 coaches at Bama,
Going all the way back to the 50s have all had at least 1 ten win season.

I'm sorry that the greatest football program of all time had some down years? That will happen some times. I dont think many of us bammers are still crying over the trinity of mikes though. If Mike the 3rd hadnt sucked, we would have never gotten Saban. ;)

Also, as the guys above me pointed out, you needed to shrink your range just a tad.

If you're gonna try to manipulate facts, at least get'em right!

Sidewalk and his manipulations of stats and truths are without fail. At least he's consistent. Consistently bad, but hey, it's something.

Similar to the other "technicality," Bama played its 1979 final game on Jan 1 of 1980, so that NC at least touches the 80s.

Also, Bama was a 1 pt SEC CG loss away from playing for another NC in 1994.

this is what happens when the NCAA looks the other way and lets you buy players. From 2009-2012 Alabama cheated more than they ever did in recruiting. Cars, rims, suits, signed jerseys for cash, straight up cash, coaches paying players and admitting it, cease and desist letters, you name it.

Do you have actual proof of cheating by Alabama coaches and players? And don’t show me pictures of players standing in front of cars, because all that says is that you believe players and their families are incapable of buying cars. Give me real proof of payments or agreements to pay players or their families.
