Who is this Mac person everyone mentions? I assume he's on one of the recruiting sites, but it's not ringing a bell. I really don't keep up with the recruiting sites.

Is this directly in reference to the last spot that we thought was going to Cliff/Ugonna? If so, makes me think the rumor about Oats leaking the Ugonna news in an effort to get Cliff to commit before leaving town has some merit to it.

Any guesses at who the other options could be?

429 of the 1,838 players in the portal are using their COVID year: 23.3%.

However, those players are concentrated at the top of the @EvanMiya rankings: Six of the top 10, 11 of top 25, 44 of top 100.

It’s going to get a lot harder to recruit the portal starting next year.

Ok, but what's his name or Twitter handle or whatever? Or which site does he post on?

I'm surprised no one has filed a lawsuit challenging NCAA eligibility limits yet. At this point I would fully expect a federal judge to rule that as long as the athlete in question is enrolled as a full time student seeking a degree they are eligible to participate in athletic competitions.

Agreed, and considering both how much the DOJ has inserted itself thus far and how the various institutional players fear litigation, it's probably only a matter of time.

The decades-long failure of the NCAA to take a proactive role in any of this is increasingly painful as they now watch themselves being slowly legislated out of existence.

I'd imagine the only reason no one has tried yet is because the lawyers can't find a client. The number of athletes competing in sports where there's a lot of NIL money being spent who are actually willing to pursue a PhD, MD, JD, MBA, etc. while playing sports is likely very small. And that's probably the route they'd have to go unless the schools got on board with the idea of letting them keep pursuing different undergraduate degrees. Possible, but I'd imagine unlikely.

NEWS: #NewMexico big man JT Toppin will enter the transfer portal, @247Sports has learned.

Toppin was named Mountain West Conference Co-Freshman of the Year after averaging 12.4 points & 9.1 rebounds per game on 62.3% shooting from the field.

Listed at 6'9" 210. Also shot 34.4% on 3PA and averaged 3 stocks per game.

Just trying to figure out who the "other option(s)" could be.

I have to think any "other options" have to be a rim protector big if it's not Cliff or Onyenso.

- Cliff
- Onyenso

- Baba Miller (FSU)?
- Moussa Cisse (Ole Miss)?

Brandon Garrison, the big from Oklahoma State, just committed to Kentucky.

Stevenson declared for the Draft. I’m sure he’ll be back though. Would be surprised if he kept his name in the draft

He didn't really announce it, he's just on the list of early entrants who can return to school (which is probably why he didn't announce it or anything). I'd be pretty shocked if he stays in, but he'll probably get some good feedback.

Not that shocked about Stevenson. I would assume he's just trying to get evaluated.

He will get the evaluation just like Sears. Then make a decision to stay or go.

Or did they change the rule again?
