Not saying he takes the job...

BUT if he bolts, Oats would get a call. Just saying.

There are literally only 3 jobs Cal could take that aren't a step down, and they are only lateral at best: Duke, Kansas, and UNC.

Hell, the Texas basketball job isn't even the top coaching job on their own campus.

Wouldn't blame him if he left Bama for Kentucky. Never thought I would see the day Kentucky basketball wanted a Bama basketball head coach.

I don't think it is a slam dunk he would take the job. Much less pressure at Bama. If he can consistently make the tournament at Bama we are happy.

Why would Cal go to Texas? He seems like the opposite of Nate Oats in that he would never settle for being the 2nd biggest name on campus. I can't picture Cal at a non-basketball 1st school unless there was a scandal that forced him to that level. Cal loves the spotlight and his whole recruiting approach is about convincing players to join his NBA level media parade.

Why would Calipari take a step down? Every job he has held has a better basketball program and history than t.u.

For Texas? Calipari might as well buy a billboard saying, "How the mighty have fallen."

But seriously, if he leaves for UK, I won't even be mad. If you guys ever get a better football coach than us, you can bet your sweet arse we would snag him in a heartbeat.

The Cal to Texas thing legitimately makes no sense to me. In a world of weird coaching rumors, that one stands out.

Why would Kentucky lose a basketball coach to Texas? I mean in all seriousness, that would be a pretty humiliating turn of events.

As far as Oats goes, I have no idea what he wants to do. College basketball is a pretty decentralized landscape - you can absolutely build a powerhouse program at a place like Alabama (or Texas or Loyola-Chicago or hell even Georgia). And we will presumably match a pretty high salary. But who knows, maybe he or his wife would rather live somewhere else than Tuscaloosa. That wouldn’t be shocking.

The NBA is a different ball of wax. Obviously that could be something he would jump at immediately. But frankly it would mean he’d done a hell of a job here, so I don’t worry about that.

You’ve got to be kidding. Why would Texas offer the job to Calipari? Dude is on the downside of his career hence the 6 win season. They won’t offer him. He is washed up. Sorry Kentucky.

Okay.

If Oats leaves, he leaves. I couldn't care less.
