Speaking of baseball season coming up, how does everyone’s team look? Strength / weakness

It’s right around the corner. Just glad we’re gonna have a season and hopefully not a lot of postponed or cancelled games.

I couldn’t name a player, but Alabama has no weaknesses.

This one is struggling to figure out how to proceed at this juncture.
Good luck.

Hogs should have another power lineup. Return weekend starters...Should be pretty dang salty.

Strengths - Pitching both starting and pen. We also have one of the best catchers in the country. He's stupid good.
Weakness - Hitting until further notice because it hasn't been good for a while.

Bama used to be pretty consistently good in baseball. Not sure what happened but my understanding is that they will be much improved this year.

We know what happened. They never recovered.

We don't really know. We're more talented and experienced for sure, but last year we were looking forward to SEC play to truly see how much better we'd gotten - and then it didn't happen, so it was kind of still a mystery.
So, we'll see. The expectation is to get back to Hoover and make the NCAA Tournament. Anything less than that would definitely be a dissapointment.

We went to the NCAA Tournament 13 of the next 16 seasons, won a few SEC Tournaments, a regular-season title, went back to Omaha, and averaged 40 wins a year.
What happened was we hired Greg Goff.

I don’t recall LSU ever being a poor hitting team. You’ve had better years but I’m quite sure you’ll be fine.
MSU same with pitching, we are loaded there. Hitting is yet to be determined though I do know we have 3 for sure good ones.

It's been a problem. We've been having trouble scoring the last few years.

Strengths- Experience. One of the oldest teams we've had in a while
Weakness- If the beginning of 2020 was any indicator, then probably hitting. We've had a hard time getting on base since Edouard Julian left.

Should continue to be solid defensively and the bullpen is solid as well. Need some guys in the starting rotation to step up this year. The bottom of the order gives me some concern as well. But if Mondesi can put together a complete season and Salvador Perez can stay healthy, I think our team can win 70-75 games. Still need to keep stocking the minor league system with talent before we’re a contender again though.

Pitching and bullpen are definitely our biggest strength. Nikhazy, Hoglund, and Diamond are a strong rotation followed by Miller, Broadway, Myers, Cioffi, Holston, and Burton in the pen. I’ll be interested to see how our bats are. We are going to miss Servideo and Keenan. Honestly can’t remember the last time I didn’t know who was going to be our starting SS going into the season, but I believe he’s a true freshman. We’ve been pretty solid at that position for awhile.

Only problem there is that you won’t be playing 70-75 games. This is college, not MLB but I get your point.

We are supposed to be a lot better.
We have a tough non conference with series against Texas and Clemson, so we will know early.

This years batting lineup I have seen many times at MSU over the years. Lot of very talented hitters that will have to adjust to Sec pitching. It’s usually mid season before these type teams in the past start to really see the baseball and take off. I’m hoping we find several jewels early who step right in and have success early.

I’d say we let Wells stick around (arguably) a few too many years and then hired his buddy instead of a proven winner and then made matters worse by hiring Goff. The Goff hire obviously led to a complete rebuild. Thank God Byrne hired somebody capable of a rebuild. I really like where we are now.

Yea, Goff just accelerated the destruction. Gaspard had let it become bad (after Wells had let it become average). Then Goff showed up and took what was left and burned it to the ground. Those classes of all random JuCo guys......sheesh.
Bo has certainly done work building it back. Now we get to see how far it's come.

Jim Wells won a lot of baseball games. I didn’t realize he had declined so much in his last seasons. I do know this, MSU got a ton of talent out of Alabama for years and still do. Pretty sure a lot of those guys grew up Crimson fans or Auburn football fans but again, always had lots of good ones out of Alabama most likely because we love our baseball.
I think both Bama and Auburn have made steps in the right direction in your baseball programs. The SEC has only gotten more brutal now. The days of going 22-8 in conference play are probably gone.
