He’s had some bad luck. ACL injury and tore a hamstring, too.

Henderson’s recruitment isn’t over. If the program looks good next fall and he can visit with the staff then we might get back into it

It’s still improbable. Just not out of reach

Auburn makes top 10 for 4* WR Darius Clemons. Long way to go but Auburn is a factor here

If, as Philip Marshall says, Harsin truly doesn’t follow the rating services or “chase stars”, I wonder if he truly understands who to recruit in order to be successful against SEC rivals. We haven’t targeted very many players with big time offer sheets. I don’t think he’s ever come close to recruiting against the band of thugs in this conference. His process looks great but I’m not sure he really understands what is required to recruit in the SEC. time will tell I suppose. I’m not crapping on him, I like him and his process, but it’s a huge paradigm shift from anywhere else in the country.

Edited for spelling

There may be some truth to that. Time will tell.

I know he was successful developing lower ranked players, but we will need to bring in higher skilled kids and develop them to consistently contend in today's college football AU competes in.

What keeps me tethered to optimism is the thought that surely Bono, Mason, Caddy, and Friend have clued him in on what type of players he’ll need to compete with Bama, UGA, UF, LSU etc. reckon we’ll see

Yes, and I am sure others are in his ear. I have said several times we will need to give him time to really assess his recruiting style, who he targets and signs.

This isn’t true. We’ve just heard disproportionately lately about the guys we haven’t offered but are “targeting”.

As I mentioned before — most of the 247 has been offered by the new staff. Don’t get bogged down in the articles about 3* guys that the staff is just talking to. That’s them doing their jobs.

Pretty much every coach says they don’t follow recruiting rankings. Truth is that they all do. Harsin’s motto is “culture, recruiting, development”. It’s important to him and he knows better than anyone how limited you are by only bringing in 3*s

I don’t have any skin in the game here other than being a fan. I’m just a guy that updates the recruiting thread. But, so far, I’m not seeing many differences.

Half of the staff, including the head coach, are in the impossible position of being new to the SEC/region and not being able to get guys on campus to get to know them. Our rivals don’t have that problem to the extent we do and it’s crippling.

We’ll see what happens with this class. Kids aren’t going to stop loading up at the top programs. LSU, UGA, Bama, Ohio State, and Clemson are going to continue raking these guys in. The program needs to look good next fall to get some traction. Hopefully recruits are back on campus and experiencing the game days by then

Per KN, 4* LB Demario Tolan says Auburn is recruiting him hard, talking to him multiple times a week. Says the whole defensive staff has been on him.

Wants to get on campus and meet the staff.

I’m going to do a better job at posting all of the offers. I think that will help clear up who the staff is targeting versus talking to. Generally speaking, I’ve strayed away from highlighting offers but that’s leading to an unbalanced view of what is going on

I’ve also updated the OP with recent names of guys that have been offered. Some position groups are lagging behind so I’ll have to go back and figure out the recent offers there.

I think everyone is just nervous about Harsin's recruiting until we land a 5* or a healthy volume of 4*s. I think we as Auburn fans always have this unconscious fear of the negative narratives turning out to be true, and recruiting in the SEC was the big one when Harsin was hired. Remember how much we defended Gus as a QB developer early on?

I am a delayed gratification type of guy. I want to see known processes implemented before getting 5* recruits. Gus backed into a P5 job and was lacking in job skills.

It’s very reasonable to be nervous about recruiting under a new coach.

And we might not get the traction we need this season. I’m not here to say we’re landing a top 5 class in 2022

Harsin just spent a decade making chicken salad out of chicken shite. He spent the last few years, in particular, trying to get Boise into a bigger conference and on a different platform to compete with bigger schools and recruit better players. Zero part of me believes he’s interested in chubby chasing at Auburn

Yes I'd love to be 2/3 deep with 4 and 5 stars but lets all remember these recruiting services and rankings were created to promote the bammer machine. We will never win that game, we are out-cashed and out-manned.

If Harsin can stay in the top 10, continue making chicken salad out of chicken shite and win not "chasing the chubby's" I'm all for it.

WDE!!!

Boise State seems like a place where you are forced get the most out of 2-3 star recruits, if you want to win. What better a guy than Harsin to do that, while he builds credibility on the field? Then, the 4-5 stars start rolling in. This is a transition year, and I think Harsin is as good a choice to captain that transition as anyone.

You have to remember: every year the NFL drafts plenty of former 2-3 star recruits.

Exactly. Look at the HS rankings of the starting 22 football players that just played in the SB.
It will amaze you how many of them were 3* and less, and NOT even ranked.

And I want to see more than just our recruiting pattern, as I also want to see how Harsin's offense works going against much better players in the SEC and better coaches defending against his offense. I also want to see how he manages games, and how well he has gotten his players to play when it comes down to crunch time late in the game...

I think it will take 2 years for Harsin and staff to get into HSs and create a relationship with coaches, and a history w/ those players who will begin to be ranked higher as they get to JR and SR high level...

frick.. Gus and UCF just got a commitment from Thomas Castellanos. I want him so bad so the 2nd QB spot lol. I really hope the coaches keep following him this year.. I really think he's going to have a huge season.
