Fortunately, there’s some industry sponsored camps happening that’s helping

Auburn has an advantage right now because both Bobo and Harsin’s sons are participating at these events so they can be present

Also gives reporters an opportunity to talk to the kids. We’ll have a lot of updates the next few days

Auburn is pushing for 4* LB TJ Dudley. They’ve made up some ground on Alabama since the coaching change. He’s waiting to decide after taking visits and Auburn will be one of them

Other good news from in-state, 4* DE Caden Story was at the open practice on Saturday. He told 247 he likes the new staff and DL coach Eason

247 recapped the Under Armor camp and listed its top 5 performers. Geriner made that list again but so did another local target from Pike Road link (free)

quote:

QB Holden Geriner, Auburn commit – With Auburn head coach Bryan Harsin sitting in the stands watching his son (2024 quarterback Davis Harsin) work out, Geriner gave his future head coach a glimpse of what the Tigers should expect when he arrives on campus next year. The Savannah (Ga.) Benedictine Military School signal caller spun a tight spiral and was accurate throwing on the move. He also was able to cut the ball through the wind and connect on some deep shots when most of his peers were struggling to stretch the field. Geriner, who is already a member of the Top247, continues to look like one of the Peach State's top quarterbacks.

quote:

RB Quinshon Judkins – This is the second consecutive weekend that 247Sports has had a chance to lay some eyes on Judkins and the second straight weekend that the powerful runner from Pike Road (Ala.) has impressed in a non-padded setting. Judkins had his way with the linebackers that lined up across from him during 1-on-1s as he created some separation and attacked the ball with his hands. The knock on Judkins has been that he's a little stiff, but he's doing what he can to change that narrative. Auburn, Florida and Penn State are some of the schools recruiting Judkins the hardest at the moment.

4* RB Damari Alston says if he had a top 5 that Auburn would be in it. He talks to Caddy often and they’re pitching him an opportunity to reclassify to the 2021 class and play in the fall. He says he’s meeting with his high school to see if that’s an option

Would be huge. Alston has offers from UF, Ohio State, Bama, LSU, etc
We're almost in must have territory for this one imo. We passed on all the big time transfers and we essentially are going into next season with 2 legit RBs, 1 unproven freshman, and 1 guy who has proven he can't do it.. If this was the plan on along then kudos to them, but RB is THIN right now.

Never has a town name made me shudder as much as Pike Road.

Still have PTSD from having to do construction work in The Waters.

Definitely thin but Auburn will have a shot at transfers after spring ball and depth charts are established.

So Harsin wants another RB in this class even after getting the RB from Miss?

They’ve said from the beginning that they want 5 guys by fall. Right now they’re at 4 with Tank, Shivers, Barrett, and Hunter.

I’d guess Alston is the top choice at this point but they’d probably look at a transfer too.

I thought it would be heavy more towards OL if he could get them.

I guess he plans to get his OL as a GT and through the portal.....

Auburn has 6 roster spots due to the Covid seniors not counting toward the limit. Auburn has 3 spots to offer for non-grad transfers. There’s currently a lot of flexibility so we’re in good shape to pursue any available option right now. Harsin said he wanted to balance out the depth chart on OL since it’s really class heavy so I’m expecting transfers there

Yeah not discounting that. I doubt those guys will be as good at the top 4 or 5 RBs that transferred already, but they would be good enough for depth for sure. Until I actually see something that gives me a reason to believe otherwise, I'm not even counting Barrett in the depth chart.

The 2023 WR from Phenix City that we recently offered also made the list:

quote:

WR Karmello English (2023) – English is another young wide receiver from the Yellowhammer State that consistently got open once 1-on-1s started. He made arguably the catch of the day when he hit the breaks on a vertical route before turning around and snagging a ball that was thrown his back shoulder over a defender. English, who was a weapon this past fall at Phenix City (Ala.) Central, is a reactively polished wideout that likely is only going to keep getting better with more coaching. Auburn offered English last week. Plenty of other SEC schools are also in contact.

Also offered the #2 2023 DT Jordan Renaud

On 2022, Auburn has offered a pair of 3* OTs

One is Jacob Hood. Has offers from LSU and UGA. He’s the 6-8, 340lb dude

The other is Carter Smith, of Ohio.

These OL kids are all tagging Patrick Kugler, the support staffer that’s the former Michigan OL

The fact we are doing some more 2023 stuff is awesome. May not be any different than its always been, but it always seems like we are playing catch up every year. Always have low commits until summer hits, where most of the programs we are wanting to beat have a solid core of a class already. Seems like we are trying to get ahead more.

Yes, not sure why but this seemed to be Gus' MO, they would wait until one signing day was over before starting on the next class. Seemed we only had 3 or 4 (with 1 or 2 de-committing) each summer while our Rivals had double digit recruits.

We were typically about halfway done by the start of the season. It varied a bit before then but that was mostly true.

I talk about this every year around this point but it’s a pretty simple trend. You have kids that commit mostly before and after the fall HS season and you have schools that have more demand.

Typically, schools that most kids want to go to receive more early commitments. There’s pressure to claim your spot before it’s gone and over time we’ve seen these schools use that leverage to entice better and better recruits to commit early.

Auburn just isn’t on that level right now. We’re going to struggle more to pull in guys with a ton of options early until we change the demand for a spot in our class. We’ve seen our staff do it with position groups (LB and DB in the ‘20 class) but not for the class as a whole.

I guess what I’m trying to say it wasn’t really their preference. It’s just what they had to do. And they did a decent job (OL aside) a it. They wanted the best guys they could get and knew they had a better shot once other classes got fuller. Just a numbers game that they leveraged and used to snag guys later

4* DE RJ Moss had a virtual visit with Auburn and Auburn offered today. Sounds like it went really well. I expect him to setup an OV

UR/3* DB Nick Cull will OV, he tells 247.

This is a guy to ignore the rating. He has recent offers from Bama, LSU, Auburn, UF, and a bunch of others. Absolute stud
