A bad class like this one can have terrible long term, compounding effects. Add in a tough SEC schedule in the SEC West with teams trending in the right direction like Arkansas and Aggie, you guys may be looking at a 7-5 type season which in itself could hurt recruiting as well. Maybe Harsin can coach those lower rated guys up, but there are depth concerns to say the least. How much time are you guys giving Harsins?

Far less concerned than every teacher of yours has been about just how functionally retarded you will end up being.

It's just one class so far. Last year's class was one of the better ones we've signed, on-paper. This one will hurt us a couple of years down the road, but the transfer portal can help that too.

Yeah, that's likely, but understandable, and is it really that far from the norm lately?

The West is always tough. We've been here before. I don't expect Harsin to be any worse than Gus. I just hope he can be more consistent.

Barring a total disaster, I expect he'll get his full contract for now, whatever that is. I'd rather him build like Tuberville did than be a flash in the pan his first season like Terry and Gus.

Judging by the hostile responses from your asking a very genuine question, I would suggest maybe the concern is pretty high.

Not really if they can spin it correctly. Year 1 recruiting class is just selling a vision usually.

Not concerned. Timing of the coaching change made it impossible to keep some bodies in the class and difficult to finish out the class. Like I said elsewhere, we have top quality but not quantity in this class. We are recruiting offensive linemen again, which Gus seemed to stop doing altogether.

Recruiting has picked up nicely in 2022 already.

We will be fine.

Thank you for your faux concern.

Anybody being honest with themselves should be very concerned.

2022 looks bleak as well and with COVID plus the early signing period even if we have a decent showing this fall we are likely going to be so far behind it won't make much difference by that point anyway.

The only hope is that maybe the increased ability to bring in transfers can help plug some holes but things definitely look bleak right now.

Not at all. This class finished better than I thought it would after Harsin cleaned house from the previous staff. Just the price you have to pay when you get rid of a coach late in the recruiting process. Throw in Covid restrictions and I do not think anyone has an issue.

I’m concerned for sure. The SEC West isn’t meant to be a proving ground. Obviously I hope Harsin can do it but I doubt it.

It’s not that bad of a class. We’ll end up in the 20s

Recruiting almost always dips on the year you fire a coach. If we struggle with the next class, then it starts to be concerning

Not.

Auburn’s recruiting classes in 2008 and 2009 were awful, and then they won a National Championship in 2010.

I like the plan to go for transfer portal guys this year rather than pick off some low 3 star guys just to have a full class.

Ask this question again in July

We were not able to sustain success under Gus.

Harsin will either build a consistently competitive program, or he will be fired.

I personally think he can win at Auburn.

Gus won some big games, but never built a consistent winning program.
Many of our losses under Gus were big blowouts to top teams.

If Harsin can build it where we consistently compete, win our share, and don’t get our shite pushed in by the top 5 teams, I think he will stay.
