and then said terrible coach lost at home by the biggest margin in the series ever after he had gotten a chance to bring players he wanted in

And you're suffering recency bias. Dooley went 1-7 and 0-7 in the SEC his last 2 years (3-5 his first).
15-21 (4-19 in SEC)
Pruitt went 5-3 in the SEC just last year and was recruiting fairly well. He shite the bed this season and it wasn't helped by a pandemic, but he was much better on paper than Dooley.
16-19 (10-16 in SEC)
