I heard Steely Dan at the Wharf one time and when the started playing Deacon Blues, I told my buddy that we are about to hear all the "cracker assholes" sing the one line they remember, but don't understand. Sure enough...

I've seen them argue that Wake Forest and Alabama were powerhouses in the 70s and the song was about those schools and football. If they knew a damn thing about Becker and Fagan, they'd know football was the furthest thing from their mind and that song was making fun of them.

The "*Greatest Team of All Time" won a squeaker over a Citrus Bowl team. Also lsu is dominated in the series all time and recently.

This bothers me none. Also, some of you on this thread are being sanctimonious about this, but it doesn't change the fact that at the time that song was written, "winners of the world" was what Bama was, and historically that has played out to present day.
Insult or not...still rings true no matter the intent. Compared to the inbred sister screwing unoriginal stuff you guys throw out, I'll take it

I, for one, am glad LSU won in 2019. The alternative would have been Clemson. Clemson was, and I guess still is, a competitor with Bama for best current college football program. If Clemson had won many would have argued that Clemson had surpassed Bama as the best program in the country having won 2 straight NCs.

Ya'll realize that its not about Alabama or any state, any particular football player or any reference to one team over another.
Its about wherever Saban decides he wants to coach. He is the difference. It could have been Michigan State if he would have stayed or Louisiana State if he would have stayed.
