Is this happening? A lot of chatter or is he at the bottom of a long list of coaches being interviewed?

More sports bored. We don't care.

Hasn’t Mullen done this before? Float a rumor out there to try and renegotiate a contract? Seems like he has. Not really sure why an NFL team would want him when there are other options out there to be honest.

Probably a ploy from his agent to get more money. Jimbo did it every year at FSU.

No one (NFL) will hire him

He ain't going no damn where. He pulled this at State every year to make people think he's some great wanted coach. No NFL team wants him.

Grantham finally gets his HC chance!

NFL protocol requires that every team interview a special needs person for any vacancy. Merlin will be on every teams list.

There are some extremely poorly run and managed NFL teams out there, so it wouldn’t surprise me.
The Jacksonville Jags would 100% do something that dumb.
Once he gets fired from Florida, he’s not getting that high of a paycheck ever again. He’s been beyond exposed as a head coach at this point, and any program that wants even a 5% chance of a championship won’t consider him.
Leaving MSU was a massive career mistake for him, but I’m glad we’ve gotten a head start on rebuilding. He would have been self destructive long term.

I am torn on this. He is a really good game day coach but I would be worried if Florida got an elite recruiter in there

I can understand why the UGA people want him gone, but I don’t know why NFL teams would want to hire him. As a coach he is great schematically and pretty decent on game day decisions, but this guy is a liability in front of a camera.

If so, should change mascot to the quitters.

If he ends up with the Falcons I'm rooting Saints from now on.

What I don’t get is that Mullens staff is a model of consistency. This is the first year he replaced any assistant at UF. They’ve had 2? assistants stolen or at best mutual partings. This could be a great selling point to recruits. You’ll know who your coach is likely going to be all 3-5 years. Instead he keeps kneecapping himself with NFL talk.
The guy is so close to being a great coach if he could stop self sabotaging. I’ve never seen anyone like him before. When he was at MSU, I used to think this is a man destined to win a national championship. But as he gets more exposure on the national stage, I’m half convinced he never will.

I hope he stays because there’s no fricking way UF will frick up his replacement. They’re used to winning titles and they will for sure hire a top notch coach.
