He's turned Clemson into a machine and won at least 10 games for 9 straight years, finished i the top 5 the last 5 years, has been in the playoff national title game 4 of the last 5, won it twice, and you're still not convinced?

He may not be the best Xs and Os guy, but he has surrounded himself with a great staff and built a culture that players want to be a part of.

I can see why they would focus on Clark Lea. This would be a similar approach to what Northwestern did when they hired Pat Fitzgerald. Who I think had only been an assistant coach up to that point, but was a Northwestern grad, so he already understood what the situation was there. Obviously, it has worked out pretty well for the Wildcats.
It is just hard for me to imagine Jamey Chadwell at Vanderbilt. Maybe it is his public personality or because he is so closely identified with Coastal Carolina. He might really like Nashville, you never know. I'd definitely ask him if he's interested and what his plan would be to get things back on track. Franklin did well there, so it's possible.

I'm actually happy with Shane. Chadwell would never have had the same level of dedication to Carolina as Shane. Y'all forget how far things like that go with us whether you find it stupid to be that way or not.
We, myself included, all used that justification for Barry Odom as well.
Odom was way more dedicated to Mizzou than Drink will ever be, but who cares. If Drink takes a bigger job that will mean he’s won a bunch of games here

Holy shite... This is some incredible homerdom right here. Roughly 10 years of sustained success but you're not sure.
ETA: I now see that everyone else also found that reply amusing.

Chadwell is next generation Malzhan. If he goes to where he can get talent, he can win a bunch of games. Thing is you're also living on borrowed time. Defenses at this level are going to be able to stop his offense more effectively and once they figure it out... that's all she wrote for chadwells career. If he goes to vandy where he'll give top level DCs a look year after year, without the talent to squeeze every last win out of the scheme.... literally dumbest thing he can do.

Making 3 mil a year isn't dumb.

If Vandy Administration does not change their attitude towards football I can see an exit from the SEC possible at some point.

Been the same attitude for 90 years. Sec isn't kicking Vandy out despite a lot of fans on here wanting them to

Just don't hire Bill O'Brien. I saw his name pop up on here yesterday on another Vandy coaching search thread.
O'Brien had Deshaun Watson at QB and DeAndre Hopkins at WR. You'd think they would be putting up crazy numbers and locking down that division.

If O'Brien couldn't get it done with those weapons in Houston, there is no way he would do anything at Vandy. Never.

It has been worse the last 20 years. A lot of folks got uncomfortable in 2003 when they dissolved the Athletic Department and put it under the office of student athletics recreation and wellness.
That discomfort was balanced by the SEC being so flush with cash there was no impetus for it.

Ask LSU how that works. You guys gonna pay your assistants as much as Clemson? What they are doing is unprecedented, is that really something you think you can achieve?

They run spread and pro concepts at Coastal. Absolutely nothing like Malzahn. WTH are you even talking about? Lol

Or if he’s a good coach like he appears to be he’ll make adjustments to the adjustments.
Any coach that is stagnant and refuses to adjust their schemes will always fail.

I won't call it stupid I just don't get how it matters.

Do the admins not understand a competitive (6-6, 7-5) Vandy football team would attract so many students to the school? I get the admission standards make it hard to compete but if they ever went all in on football it would be easy to sell smart kids on football in the sec and in turn normal student recruitment would skyrocket and everyone would want to go to Vandy to get a good education but still be an SEC school.
