I'm sorry but this guy was a flop.

Change my mind.

I'm not as high on him as others are but he's far from a flop. I don't think he's a first round draft pick like some think. He has improved on getting his head around but he still needs to work on it.

He is usually in position but can’t make the play.

He’s not terrible, but elite guys like Devonte Smith and Kyle Pitts make him look terrible.

We haven’t had a true shutdown corner since Baker.

Eric Stokes has been pretty damn good as a shut down cb.

far from a flop, but not elite either. Similar to our team in general, we excel against lesser talent but perform poorly against elite teams/players

He's losing a lot of close battles but he really is in phase with WR's for the most part.

Needs to get his head around. That can and needs to be coached.

That said, he still has no idea where the ball is, 50% of the time

Cause he has an uncanny ability to never turn his fricking head when the ball is in the air. He can cover them like a blanket (besides falling down on the long ball to Waddle) but he gives up passes because he has no idea where the ball is.

When you are in man against a fast receiver, you need to focus on the receiver first. You have to watch their eyes to know when the ball is coming. That is a learned skill. Knowing which shoulder to look over and when is not a 5 minute lesson.

Taking it a step further. A good QB and a good receiver have an advantage in man coverage. If a good QB has a clean pocket and time, he will beat man coverage. Going man allows you to do more with your pass rush and is really dependent on the QB not having 4 seconds and a clean pocket. In our 2 losses, it was not the QB or LB play really. It was the Qb having time, a clean pocket, and good throwing lanes.

He basically shut down Seth Williams. That guy is a big time receiver. Made a touchdown saving tackle inside the 5 yard against one of the fastest players in CFB in Anthony Schwartz.

He’s a lot better than he was as a freshman and was injured most of his sophomore year.

He didn’t play well against Florida, but he’s your scapegoat for this loss? Really?

Who said that>?

That was a total team frick fest against Florida

I am just making an observation that Campbell is not the shut down corner many have hoped for. He might be average, but far from what I thought coming in.

I mean, you’re the one who just made a thread singling out one player after a “total team frick fest against Florida”.

I don't know why he stuck out in particular...guess its the 6000000 yards of passing we have up to UF and Trask that got me thinking abt our secondary.

Not a flop.
Damn good cover corner.

100% needs to come back for 2021 to improve his draft stock.

I dont think he has problems with phase or getting his head around.
He needs work on hand placement to break up those fades, back shoulders, and go routes.

A well placed ball will beat the corner. But the corner can disrupt the receiver from tucking the ball for security. One of those TD passes overCampbell, he tried to swipe down with his hand. The reception was over him. Swiping up would have disrupted the receiver from bringing the ball into his chest. The smallest of details... but that is what I saw numerous times this sunday from NFL DBs. A great QB will place the ball... but a great DB wont allow the receiver to pull it to his body.
