I do not, but my wife did for a long time

No
I think many hope that there is a spiritual existence after death but I have yet to see any credible proof in my lifetime.

I didn't used to believe in ghosts... until I lived in a haunted house.

Care to elaborate?

Scripture talks about angels and demons, so if you call them ghosts, yes.

I say I don't, but there's still part of me that's wary when I'm in a seemingly "haunted" place.

Back in 2008 I bought a shotgun house that was built in 1910 and had recently been renovated. One afternoon I went into the attic and found that the people who lived there before me and renovated the house had blown in insulation. It covered everything. But I saw what looked like some boxes sticking up at the front of the attic, so I made my way to them. I pushed aside a bunch of the insulation and found a time capsule of papers and other knick-knacks inside the boxes from the first half of the 20th century.
There was a Mississippi forestry folder with original Smokey the Bear posters from his transition period from the cuddly-cartoonish bear to the one we know today. There were newspapers from early 1941 indicating the local military base was gearing up for war. There were old perfume bottles. There was a cigar box with some children's shoes, violin rosin, and other items. And there was a bunch of school homework and papers for a little girl named Rachel. I did some digging and found out that Rachel had grown up in the house, went to school at the neighborhood school down the street and went to the Catholic church down the block where I went.
I took some of the items, including the newspapers and the forestry folder. But I left most of the other items in the box.
I lived in the house alone for the most part for a number of years. My bedroom wall, which was no more than thin paneling, an empty space with no insulation, and clapboard on the outside, backed-up to another house and I had a kind of crazy neighbor. She was unemployed most of the time and had inherited her house from her parents. Late at night you could hear the TV from her bedroom. I thought nothing of it.
My now wife pretty much moved in with me in about 2015. She heard my neighbor's television, too, when we went to bed. But after a while she became convinced it wasn't a TV, but it was someone talking in our kitchen. I laughed it off at first, but then I started getting up in the middle of the night when it ramped up and would walk out of the bedroom toward the kitchen. As soon as I got out of the bedroom, it would stop. Then a few minutes after I laid back down, it would start-up again. It just sounded like someone having a conversation with themselves in a mumbly voice. Needless to say, my girlfriend was disturbed. She started praying every night for it to stop and it eventually did. Again-it didn't really bother me.
Sometime later we decided to get a rescue dog. Shortly after we got her, the dog started acting strange in the house. She would walk around the house like she was watching someone or following someone, then sit down and stare off into space. I just figured the dog was special. Then one morning I was packing up to head to work. I was standing in the kitchen making my coffee and I heard a girl’s voice distinctly say the dog's name from the living room. I shouted for my girlfriend-but I knew she had already left for work. I looked in the living room and the dog was staring at the couch wagging its tail excitedly. I just figured it was "Rachel" as we now called her, and left for work.
In about 2016 I decide to sell the house. It took a while to sell and in the meantime I purchased another historic home about 2 blocks away and moved most of our stuff to it. After the old house got a contract, my now fiancé and I went back to it to make one more sweep for anything that we may have left behind. We had decided before we moved to leave all of Rachel's homework, papers, etc. at the house. It was her home, and through the years people in the neighborhood had told us that she not only grew up in the house, but ended up living in the house her entire life and dying as an old maid.
As we made our final sweep, we decided to look in the attic to make sure we didn't leave any Christmas decorations up there. I pulled down the ladder and went up like usual, and pulled the thin rope to turn on the light bulb just above the stairs. I gazed around and everything looked as it should. Then I looked down next to the area where the ladder entered the attic. There, on the wood frame that housed the ladder when it was folded-up, was the cigar box. I opened it up, and inside was the little girl's shoes, the violin rosin, a perfume bottle, a thimble, and some other small items.
I did not put the cigar box there, and neither did my fiancé. She climbed up the ladder behind me to look at it. I told her we should take it, since apparently Rachel wanted it to come with us. She said under no circumstances were we taking it with us. So we didn't. I have felt bad about that ever since.
I didn't believe in ghosts until I had this experience. Rachel wasn't a bad ghost, obviously. Maybe she is just trapped in the only place she knew her entire life-where she was happiest when she was alive. I hope one day she is released from whatever bonds have held her here.

No, I don’t consider those to be ghosts

Yeah, that’s an ambiguity I guess. By ghost, I didn’t mean simply “spirit” but instead the spirits of people who have died that are still roaming earth.

I do, and I have experienced one of the children ghosts in the Stanley Hotel in Estes Park.
when your in a heated hallway, and you put your hand in a cold place about the height of a child, and it is 10 to 12 degrees colder than 5 inches to either side or above it, and you feel a tug on your short.....it is an attention getter.

Hells to the no....there ain't no ghosts. I read this entire thread and there are grown arse men who say they believe in ghosts??? Surely y'all are joking???
When I was a kid (6) my dad moved to Dawsonville, GA to superintend a resort development which was being built up there. This was back when Dawsonville wasn't a suburb of Atlanta....it was OUT there. We lived in a 2 bedroom mobile home. My bed was the couch. I HATED it because we had moved from a house in Atlanta where I had my own room. I would lay awake on that couch and watch cabinet doors open and close and lights come on dimly and go out and curtains moving as if someone walked by them...and there wasn't anyone moving through the house. There was also a hand which would come up from between the couch cushions and scare the shite out of me....just a hand, looked like a woman's hand, with long nails. That thing had actually gotten after me in Atlanta also so she apparently moved with us when we moved. My dad wasn't the type of father to brook any nonsense out of a kid so I only mentioned any of this in passing a few times, to which I get some good natured ribbing about being scared of ghosts. I am telling you at 6 this shite was as real as real gets.....I saw it every night and that damned hand would get after me most nights....I would gird myself against these attacks and lay in a cold sweat counting the hours til dawn. I have suffered from insominia my entire life that I can remember and I am convinced it stems from that 14 month or so experience of being terrified every single night.
I now know that it was, of course, my imagination. I was pissed about losing my room and was probably fantasizing about something horrible happening to me to teach them a lesson about taking my room away from me. The curtains would move....when the furnace came on or the wind blew in the windows (no AC...this was the early early 70's). Obviously the hand wasn't real....but at the time it was LOL...and if any cabinet or drawers ever opened, which I doubt now, it was probably the cheap trailer catches simply not being closed properly and the house moving as a cheap single wides built in the 70's are wont to do....our RV cabinets do the same thing now. My daughter was terrified of them and probably still is but she nervously laughs about it when it happens now.
Ghosts and haints and warnings (warnings may be an Appalachian thing?) are ALL forms of self hypnosis...the human mind is very powerful and our DNA is steeped in survival and being hyper aware of our surroundings...this is why SO many of us hunt when we no longer need to to survive. There ain't no ghosts....it is your imagination.
By the way that hand is, apparently, all over the world. I have mentioned this to a bunch of people and they all experienced that damned hand getting after them from under the bed or between the cushions of a couch. Europe, Asia, South America, the Middle East...that hand is tormenting 6 year olds all over the world wherever it is dark and they are supposed to be asleep....someone ought to grabd that fricker and give it a sound thrashing...not me but someone LOL....

Bro, I swear to God I too was haunted by a hand when I was a child. I never talk about it because nobody would believe me if I did.

My daughter, when she was 2-3, would be laughing and playing by herself, like kids do. On a few occasions, we'd ask her who she was playing with and she'd say the name of her great grandmother that she'd only met as an infant before she died and not a name she heard around the house. It was kinda spooky.
