Why do you want a lottery?
Makes the poor people in Georgia more poor.
Most of the lottery money was for education at first. Now it’s getting slipped into all the “government programs”.

Why not, why let potential tax revenue leave the state to our neighboring state? Every time there is a decent jackpot there are lines of people crossing the state lines for tickets. The same religious people who vote against it are the same ones pooling money for tickets when its close to a billion $. Pass a lottery and if you dont want to play dont buy tickets.
Also it would help even the playing field in recruiting as we lose people to UGA because of the lottery scholarships.

Thats true. It will have a negative effect as well. I guess they both have to be weighed in.

Our last dem gov, Siegelman, essentially ran on the lottery. It was defeated on referendum after the Christian Coalition and Eagle Forum took notice.

Living in Mobile, we have guys trips over to Biloxi to hit up the blackjack tables often. You see several Alabama plates in the parking decks. I don't understand why Alabama hasn't jumped on this bandwagon. I promise you, if someone hit a jackpot in a lottery or hit a big pot at a casino, the church wouldn't mind that 10% tithe from the winnings.

That’s not true at all. In fact Georgia is setting to legalize as we speak. Several medical options are available in Georgia and legal Hemp is being grown. Alabama will be the last to fully legalize.

You can possess oil here. As far as I know, you can't grow it or produce it here and it's not legal to bring it across state lines. So it's only a token gesture. We'll never see full medical here, much less recreational.

Fortunately, it will eventually be rescheduled, decriminalized and medical approved federally. How states land on recreational use will remain up to them, but the tax dollars are a huge incentive.

As someone who was never a smoker, even I don't get why people are so opposed to medical legalization.
Find it hard to believe marijuana is worse than the a lot of the common pain meds out there. I'd even be open to believing alcohol is worse for a lot of people

I honestly don’t even notice it in Colorado. Occasionally you smell it but otherwise we forget that it’s legal and that people consume it

It's not, it's a ton better. States with legal cannabis have a lot fewer issues with pills.

I believe that's definitely true. I gave up drinking a year ago because of my liver. I've been using cannabis for over a year and the only issue I've run across is eating too much shite late at night.
I spend a lot of time in Colorado and it blows my mind how legal, regulated and safe it is there and how it's still illegal here.
