Was fun shooting shite during the coaching searches. I believe we both came out on top. I didn’t get to watch your game because State was playing. Let’s here y’all’s strengths and weaknesses. What’s on the grill saturday. Anyone making the trip?

The secondary and DL played well. Linebackers are still slow
Offense didn't do great, although Georgia has a great defense so not sure what to make of that. We have some good receivers and a good runningback, but OL is meh and Franks made some bad mistakes, but also showed flashes.
Kickoff and punt coverage sucks
Depth is also a big issue
I think we can make it interesting since our secondary seems pretty talented and was the most impressive unit overall against Georgia imo.

Y’all will win no problem. Lots of medium pass plays over the middle will be the bread and butter for Leach and company.

Theres maybe 3 fanbases in the league that wouldn't trade what they have for leach and that was before last Saturday. He's a hell of a coach but I get why most ADs wouldn't touch him.
Our weakness is the same its been for the last decade. No depth on defense.
Im looking forward to the game. State isn't as good as everyone thinks and we aren't as bad as everyone thinks.

I’m honestly more excited for this game than I was last week. Arkansas played like a completely different team last week in the first half before depth caught up with them. Arkabsas has always given state fits other than the last 3 years.

We'll return some injured players on defense against MSU, so depth will be a little better. The problem is that they won't keep MSU from scoring and I don't think our offense can match tit for tat.

I don’t think we’ll win but hopefully we have a better defensive game plan than LSU. I had a chance to watch their game with State last night and wow was Pelini bad. They manned up the majority of the game and just got burned again and again. Zero chance we could man up all game any ways but hopefully we spend a significant amount of time in a zone and keep the mesh routes contained.

yall will easily play better D than LSU. No question

I was just now able to watch the LSU game highlights, and now I'm convinced this won't be pretty.
State's offense will pick us apart like they did LSU, but I see us having a similar game as LSU's defense even though they have FAR more raw talent. This is where having film on your opponent and seeing the opposing team's mistakes comes into play, and I think we'll make adjustments where LSU didn't.
I think we'll look salty on D for at least a half again before we get too worn out to prevent the big plays. Leach and Costello will dink and dunk us to death in the first half and have long sustained drives, and we might get a stop or two. I think our DL will have much better success getting to the QB and forcing hurried throws or sacks than we saw last week, but their short and crossing routes will pick us apart early for short gains and keep the chains moving.
In the second half we'll put up a valiant effort but not have the depth to stay fresh, and they'll nail us with some long gains and TDs as we tire out. The 4th quarter is where they really pull away, we keep it respectable until then.
Our offense should have more success and be able to sustain several drives throughout the game, and we'll actually be able to run the ball most of the time we need to. State's defense looks about on-par with our first half D from last week, at least against LSU where they were extra hyped to be playing the National Champs. I don't see them having a similar performance here and I think we'll move the ball much better now that nerves are a little more settled.
I still think we live and die by Franks, who will look much better but still make a few head-scratching throws/decisions. The run game will be much better suited to bail him out and the D will actually have to respect it unlike last week, opening up the passing game more. We'll look much better on offense not having to face UGAs front, which is STACKED. We'll move the ball and score on long drives, and Franks will make an amazing play or two for long TDs.
All in all I see us losing (of course), but looking much more well-rounded than week 1. We faced possibly the worst matchup for our offense last week, and now we have film and experience to work with.
MSU - 37
UofA - 24

I'm hoping we're mikes head scratcher this year. we're the weakest team he faces. no reason he should win.

Y’all are tougher than vanderbilt and mizzou

As much as I want to win a I agree with you. I believe we score somewhere between 24-28 points and leach drops 38-42 it’ll be around a 10-17 point loss

I was tempted to believe this would be the case too, but we don't yet know if the rule still applies as an SEC HC. He does say that this is the most talent he's EVER had to work with, and Costello is a legit gamer.
I think they can beat anybody on any given Saturday if last week's performance wasn't an anomaly. They'll win a couple that they wouldn't have otherwise simply because of Costello.
I'm a little jealous we didn't end up with he and Leach, we would've instantly been another 3-4 wins better.

And we could’ve had him if we wanted

I wanted Mike Gundy. Then Bert was hired and was like what?

this season I seriously think yall are better than both. Franks is a very good qb that got stuck against the best D in the conference last saturday

I shouldn’t say most of the board it was mostly just a few posters in every thread mainly dale. Btw where’s dale been since state dropped 600 on dbu? Him and Sms must be Craig James and his son because they have an irrational hatred for a really good coach in leach

He has some very strong feelings about random coaches. If I remember correctly, mostly everyone was melting about the chad hire and he was talking it up.

I remember that too. I was scratching my head a little but took his word on it at first because he’s an smu fan
