How do you feel about where your team is at?
-Vols have had an interesting offseason with tighter than most covid protocols regarding contact tracing. So far from limited reports it seems WR and DB are the surprising, in a positive way, position groups with both exceeding expectations. Veterans Flowers and Thompson have locked their safety and corner spots respectively and freshman Beckwith and Wideman are standing out on the other side. Oline looks deep and versatile with multiple lineups being utilized to prepare for covid issues. Dline is a concern thanks to rumors of possible opt outs but barring that they should be decent. RB is a concern for me as only 2 guys are tested. The backups are likely to be a LB and WR. Banks/Crouch and Beckwith would likely fill in.
Depth and development will be the keys to this year and teams that lack either are not going to make it. Could be the sloppiest SEC season overall in memory

Right now pretty good. No major injuries is huge. According to 247, Florida is one of the closest to game ready because we front loaded our practices and got the hardest parts out of the way, which should help us get out of the gates running.

How has Bailey looked at qb?

Zero clue until we see how they come out after their opening win versus Georgia. Hopefully not flat but they’re a young team so who knows.

Yeah UGA is overrated. No way that’s a top 5 team. Can’t get the big head after handling them.

Little quieter than normal around LSU and what does come out is what I call coachspeak.
Brennan is a little slower to make decisions than Burrow(of course) but has a ton of arm talent, better athleticism than you'd think and good command of the offense and what they want from it. Still building repoire with some wrs.
Curry seems to be the RB initially. Expect rotations. Talented but unproven.
Marshall looks ready to take the mantle. McMath is a specimen. Boutte is supposed to be a stud freshman.
Arik Gilbert is an all american. SEC beware.
OL is a question mark. Interior should be strong, Deculus is solid if nothing more. Rosenthal is uber talented but we will see how it plays out. Very little trustable depth.
DT is strong and we may get better if Farrell and/or Shelvin opt back in.
DE is a problem. Supposedly we are getting better. True fr. Ojulari is gonna be a good one but will have some downs.
LB is strong I the top 3, depth is young. Cox seems to be a stud transfer.
CB is gonna be strong as always. The battles are depth and what order. New transfer just working his way in.
S is a huge concern in terms of depth but the top 3-4 should be excellent if Harris can stay healthy. Can Lewis and/or Toles be a good 4th guy? How is Stevens really used is the big question.
Excellent K game with soph stud Cade York and the old man himself, Zach Can Rosenberg punting. Atkins to blast kickoffs out of the endzone.

Alabama-
Offense- All three QBs are having great fall camp. We could see them on field this fall. NOthing has changed on offensive. Explosive plays, but we gotta do better with turnovers.
Defense- We're seeing some freshmen standing out on defense and we may see 5 to 7 freshmen getting playing time.
Kicking- All three kickers are having great camp.
Everything is great doesn't mean it's actually great. we'll struggle first game.

Bailey has been a bit behind because of missing 2 weeks of practice due to contact tracing quarantine. Latest I have heard had him battling Brian Maurer for the 3rd string spot behind Guarantano and J.T. Shrout.

LSU offense will not miss a beat
Obviously there is no way they put up the numbers they did last season but there is still a ton of talent and some newcomers will be household names pretty quick - like Gilbert at TE and Boutte at WR with Chase opting out
Defense has me a little concerned, would love to get Farrell and Shelvin back which was the rumor over the weekend but depth is a major concern, cannot afford any injuries at key spots like CB S and LB, I don't know if LSU has that stud pass rusher at DE, will be relying on a lot of unproven talent there
I don't expect a playoff berth this season but 21 is being set up for another run

C'mon, when you lose so much players to NFL, Opts, out, Suspensions, and transfers........

For State it's exactly what I expected. Costello has looked pretty good, receivers are better but still having some consistency issues, and defensively it's going to be a crap shoot, particularly in the secondary. And the fact that State's pass rush might be pretty average this year is probably going to expose a young secondary even more.
State will have to win some shootouts. And their style of play is such that they are capable of upsetting a team or two but also might have a WTF loss or two of their own. That's just Mike Leach for you.

Interesting. Thanks. I was somewhat impressed with Mauer when he played against UGA. I would have thought he'd be the second string qb.

Ok. Lost a for sure contributor at 2nd TE for the year to a shoulder (Baylor Cupp). Would have allowed for a lot of multiple looks with him able to move around.
Aubson opted out. Only guy with returning stats at WR. Talent behind him is greater but has no experience. Hate that he tried get the team to boycott the season. Glad everyone else told him to kick rocks.
Defense and running game apparently look great. Mond has apparently looked the best he ever has throwing the ball, but that is like saying a 400 lb guy that lost 30 lbs is looking great. Glad to hear there is improvement, but how much more is needed to actually tell a difference.
The last two classes (freshman and sophopmores this year) appear to have the most talent ever recruited to A&M across the board. Don't like having to rely on them that heavily though.

Kentucky will surprise many this year. With always being slighted as being “Kentucky” — that old dog won’t hunt this year. Be prepared - Kentucky won’t go down easily and that includes Auburn, Florida, Georgia and yes Alabama. There will be upsets.
Keep scoffing though. We love the underdog role.

Other Bama items:
-It’s Mac Jones at QB for awhile
-Will Anderson is gonna be the next big name on defense at Bama
-Uncertainty as to the interior OL, but good pieces they are trying to figure out best fit for

Hard to say. In my 35 years on this earth, I’m not sure I’ve ever read a scrimmage report and thought, “man we suck.” The scrimmage reports are like the epitome of sunshine pumping. Hard to even take them seriously honestly. Or maybe I have PTSD from Miles always saying our QBs threw for 400 yards and 6 TDs before throwing for 150 yards and no touchdown in the actual games that followed.
