LSU, I am more concerned about defensive depth from an experience point. Talent is there but not much game pt and numbers are kinda thin on tat side of the ball.

How has Bailey looked at qb?

Like a freshman. He is currently 3rd on the chart. Shows flashes but not consistent enough. I expect he will improve as he sees more snaps. Shrout is the solid back up now but barring injury Bailey should be the guy clean up guy.

I have been reading some really good reports, but I would think we still have a long way to go.

Word is the defense is as good as we had hoped and the offense is coming on strong, improving every day. Saw good reports on our WR's, RB....well, actually the entire offense, which is a good thing. We'll see.

Sometimes it takes time. Immediate success is not an indicator of continued success and a slow start is not indicative of a bust.

Florida a little more in depth

Our front seven is as loaded as we have been in years. A lot of it is unproven but highly ranked recruits though. So will wait and see. Seems Grantham is really excited about his pass rushers this year though

Malik Davis at RB may be coming back to form. Kid was a great freshman but has struggled post injury. I'm skeptical but wish him the best.

WR and TE this is the most pure talent we've had in years. We have tall targets in Grimes, Shorter, and Pitts. Speedy targets in Toney, Copeland, Henderson. The potential is insanely high, but unproven. Last year we had consistent receivers. Now we have playmakers, but not sure who will be consistent besides Pitts and Grimes.

Oline is wait and see

QB Trask has done nothing to doubt he is the starter.

Secondary has talent, but corner worries me outside of Elam. Dean especially has been disappointing. Wilson having another offseason to heal hopefully gets him back to form to be the other outside corner.

Will Anderson has been called the best player in the building.

Lotttttt of hype for a true freshman, I guess we’ll see.

I think he worded it wrong. The offense, schematically should not miss a beat, the skill level of our play makers should not drop. The big difference will be how well can myles Brennan identify and disect defenses, and how well can Brennan deliver the ball to his playmakers and extend plays. Joe burrow may have been the most NFL ready QB to ever leave college. If Brennan can play at 60-70% of burrows level this is easily a 40+ppg offense.

Also Brennan has probably the best checkdown reciever / safety net in all of college football if Arik Gilbert is even half as good as he is being hyped up to be lol! Literally every one of his coaches/teammates that have been interviewed about Gilbert say he has the potential to be the best TE in the history of the sport. You have first round talent and ex NFL coaches saying this. He'll, even Linehan who coached Megatron (Calvin johnson) says he is just like megatron.

Bama is loaded and the class of the SEC.

Bama's one weakness is in the secondary, but no QB in the SEC is good enough to exploit it.

Brennan is a little slower to make decisions than Burrow

I don’t know why people bother to say that, as if it’s at all possible that it wouldn’t be the case. Decision making comes with game experience. 2018 and 2019 Joe Burrow were completely different QBs. I think Brennan is going to ramp up faster than Burrow did because he saw 2019 happen up close and this is year 2 in this offense. I don’t think his ceiling is as high as the best season ever, but it will be interesting to see how high it goes.

So your saying Brennan will suck this year and be better next year?

Auburn is deep and talented at all skill positions on offense.

OL is the big question mark really for the entire team. Apparently we have some talent to work with but they need experience.

Defense
Obviously Brown and Davidson can’t be replaced. However we have always had a large rotation so we have some talented guys that have taken meaningful snaps. All 7 guys starting in the back 7 should be very good.

I think decision making is the wrong metric here. Reaction rate or speed is what Burrow excelled at. Both LSU and the NFL tested him on some kind of standard test for reaction speed and he hit like 99 percentile including the NFL guys. I am sure that made his decision making high level as well. I have no idea where Brennan falls into this analytic at this point.

You are correct though that game experience makes a huge impact the decisions and reads that a QB must make and right Brennan has little

No, I’m saying he will ramp up faster than Burrow did, but not end up as good.

[Insert position group that is supposed to be weak] is looking really strong. [Insert names of at least three freshmen] look good on the hoof and are going to be a problem. Team is really responding to [Insert name of new coordinator/coach]. No real weaknesses.
