That Nebraska team was a great, great team. And they 'MAY' have been the greatest 'team' ever. That's a matter of opinion and up for debate (Nebraska, LSU, Miami, Oklahoma, Alabama, USC, ND, etc)
But what's NOT up for debate is who had the greatest
""" S E A S O N """ ever: It's LSU and it's not even close:
-2nd team to go 15-0 (Clemson)
-Scored record 726 points - never been done
-Took home 8 national awards (Heisman, Maxwell, Walter Camp, Davey O'Brien, Biletnikoff, Jim Thorpe, Frank Broyles, Coach of the Year) - never been done
-NEVER trailed in the 4th quarter in any of the 15 games
-Trailed by double-digits ONCE all season - in the second quarter in NCG vs Clemson - from which they proceeded to outscore the top defense in CFB by 35-8 rest of the way.
-Defeated 7 top 10 teams - never been done
-Defeated 4 top 5 teams - never been done
-Defeated the entire preseason top 4 - never been done
and 3 of those were in their final 3 games, the other was
#2 Bama at Tuscaloosa
-Defeated Clemson, Oklahoma, Alabama, Florida and Georgia by an average of 20 points. Those 5 teams went a combined 60-4 - SIXTY AND FOUR, against everybody else. - never been done.
