Ed Orgeron has been able to adapt on the field. Now he must do so off it

Times are tense at LSU. Orgeron compared it to the days after the 2017 home loss to Troy. He compared it to the “black clouds all over” that first season. He knows he has a situation to handle, and he needs to do it correctly. He has star players opting out. He has others transferring. He had a players’ protest on societal issues during scheduled practice time that he wasn’t told about. He had COVID-19 temporarily taking most of LSU’s offensive line out of practice. He scolded a reporter Tuesday for reporting stories with anonymous sources. A section of the locker room was upset when he went on Fox News and said “I love President Trump.” There’s an ever-growing national discussion on racial justice amid police violence,

The Athletic article

Seems like Yaw Yaw is having problems with the locker room. Honeymoon is over....the decline is real.

The fact that players are mad about his statement instead of trusting his actions over the last 4 years is whats wrong with America today.

How the hell would a Kentucky football fan know what good coaching looks like? Y’all haven’t had a good coach since Bear Bryant

Like Trump said..: “Ed O is first casting for your football coach in a movie.” Coach O is a football coach, and a real man, players respect him way more than most coach speak bullshite coaches. This board tries to disparage him and it’s pathetic and hilarious. Just like with players opting out, everyone wanted to criticize and poke fun at LSU, anyone with a brain knew more were coming for EVERY team, LSU and O are just the leaders.

He won't be able to steal Sean Peyton's playbook for off the field and roster management issues.

You don’t want players who quit on their team because of petty (and yes, this IS petty) differences of opinion that have nothing to do with the actual goals to be accomplished on the field. Tough to deal with this in the short term, good in the long term by discouraging such players from joining the program going forward.

Coach O said he liked Trump because Trump said he wanted college football to happen. That's it. End of story. But everyone has lost their minds over it.

Like everything g else in the media, this story is overblown and hyped up. Were some players unhappy with the Trump love from O? Sure. O talked to them and worked it out. The opt outs have zero to do with O and his political beliefs

At least you’re broadening your horizons with your LSU obsession. Moving from Wade to Orgeron is a big step!

OP is an idiot. If there is any “white guy” in college football that understands discrimination , it’s Ed O. USC openly discriminated against him bc if his Cajun heritage. He talked funny. He wasn’t one of them who could snooze the big money boosters. Ole Miss Fans did the same thing, as did the OP, With the yaw yaw things and many more slights regarding how he talked. The Cajun people are a proud and loud group. Hollywood makes fun of us ( WaterBoy, SNL,) media makes fun of us, but they are NEVER called on it. Cajun kids had their hands hit with rulers or received other corporal punishment if the spoke French at school. Can you imagine if someone beat a Mexican kid, Black Kid or some other ethnic group because they incorrectly spoke at school. So take your dribble somewhere else. Ed O can’t say those things to his team bc it will look as if he is minimizing their experiences. Let me tell you, if any “white” coach can relate, it’s Ed.
