First, don’t kill the messenger.
I know they are officially saying they have just 30 Covid cases. However, I know at least half of dozen kids that are heading back to mobile to quarantine as roommates are positive. One of the moms told me that the Auburn rep that called her today said he had to make over 20 calls to parents of roommates with Covid from his dorm today. (None of the other kids coming home are from that dorm.) If one dorm has 20 cases in a day no way in hell Auburn has 30 cases total.
Rumors are that they are “on fire with Covid cases.”
Anyone up on the plains know what is really going on?
Are you guys going to kill SEC football before we even get started?
Update: hearing rumors the are about to send everyone home from students and parents of students

Wonder how many of those 19 year olds will have symptoms? It's an incredibly contagious virus. Of course people are going to catch it. We can't keep up this farce of trying to prevent everyone from getting it at any cost.

They aren’t the only ones...

A1abana officials announced a positivity rate of less than 1 percent among students who were tested during the reentry process. Those numbers have risen significantly.
“Just in the last few days as we’ve tested at Coleman Coliseum and the Student Health Center, we’ve seen the numbers jump up from 1 percent to 4 percent to 5 percent,” Pope said in the meeting with student leaders. “And in one particular case, I think it was Coleman Coliseum (Thursday), actually it might be the Student Health Center, we saw 29 percent of the students who tested were positive.”

Are they doing random testing or something? This is not good for SEC? Will they still play if no students on campus

As the virus weakens, cases still happen but deaths are down. We are almost done with COVID. There's no reason for all of the sky screaming.

So, send the Covid kids back home to mom and grandma.

If it is consistent with what the military initial entry training (IET) sites are seeing, it will be 85-87% asymptomatic among positive groups.
The ages are similar 17-21 for majority. Conditions are a bit different given open bays vs shared dorm rooms. And, increased mid- to high-level physical activity that seems to trigger more symptomatic cases. But, Cv-19 prevention protocols are stringently enforced in IET. So, I'm guessing it will spread more rapidly on campuses, but maintain a slightly higher asymptomatic rate given the conditions.
It is incredible how quickly the virus spreads.

Just a matter of time before kids are sent home, football players remaining, preparing for games.

All part of the play book. 2 weeks after students return it'll be more articles.

Some units have begun to allow asymptomatic cases continue traning under reduced activities vs. a move to a quarantined area for the 10-14 day period.

Things can be managed and progress maintained in as safe a manner as can be allowed without freaking out and oversteering toward chaos.

When those numbers are fatalities and not cases, holler. Until then, ZFG about cases.

Let it spread among people who have least medical problems.
