The Gumps obviously can’t figure it out — Do we help them

They’re good at Monkey See Monkey Do lately trying to copy others passing them by!

Top 10 SEC Kicking — Where’s Bama

P.S. - My Grandpa Ryan was on the 1908 LSU National Championship Team and was a kicker who taught a son and grandson the art and lived long enough to see both kicking in college.

6 Basic Rules apply to assure sound kicking!

The solution to Gump problems is so simple.
Should we offer them help and suggestions or just keep laughing — I’ll hang up n listen

I think Sabans antics work well for every position but kicker. It freaks them out.

That’s two —

Non participants do not solve the problem!

We’re serious here!

Bama is not solving their problem when the solution is as easy as saying “Ed Orgeron show me the way” — Gump Pride will cost them close games again in 2020 !!!

Turning an ogre’s eye away from a problem will not make it go away!

Why is Alabama not in the Top 10 SEC

1) I think the above is exactly correct.

2) I think a gorilla would have a higher SAT score than the OP.

Brother, you nailed it — Awesome!

That’s EXACTLY what’s happening!

That’s 1 of 6 Crystal Clear to me Points why Alabama is in the Gutter of SEC kicking and losing games because of it

Is that like SF Zoo Koko the Gorilla with a 95 IQ brighter than 90% of your fanbase or say the Standard Congolese Silverback model

Saban is a fear-based Coach. That’s a great approach for everyone except for the kicker. Kicking is like a golf short game- you HAVE to be loose. He instills them with so much anxiety they begin to visualize failure and it becomes self- fulfilling prophecy.

FG's made % is important, but you also have to know how far the average attempt is also. Anders Carlson would be higher if Auburn didn't try as many 50+ field goals. But the boy has the leg for them.

And kickers need a lot of encouragement when they miss, not a coach throwing a fit on the sideline. That doesn't help the mental game.

It was a trade off: multiple national championships in return for a subpar kicking game.

Apropos —
Using a 75 year old geriatric wrestling comedy prop to ameliorate problems caused by Nick-Tator (age 69) showing historic footage of Old Age LSU FB before 2019.

Present Truth = @$$ Whippings — Losing to Top 10 teams — Missing FGs and Losing to Top 10 teams — Getting Run over by the GUS BUS and having your Nick-Tator cry on National Television — I=T=S_U=N=F=A=I=R
after your FG kicker pelayed the Goal Post

Tide Sad Truth — It’s so Unfair

As usual Teddy, nothing to offer an intelligent FB conversation. Your whimpers duly noted, I’m enjoying a “nip” from my Little Jug o’ Courvoiseur while I ponder giving you all Points 2 / 3 / 4 / 5 / 6 regarding your crap kicking situation.

Ok we’ve established the Psychology factor and Saban intimidation of his kickers as 1/6.

Point 2: THE RITUAL —

Bama kickers have terrible technique! They frequently “spin their kicks” — low hooks and the short slices (failed attempts) result

They fail to consistently drive their instep thru a Line to a target, using body weight + force from hip rotation to do the work.

With better technique, Ball travel is straight and true, and is easier to repeat in a game.
Poor follow through so obvious!

REPETITION of garbage technique leads to garbage results

Repetitive good technique leads to excellent muscle memory and better results.

Snappers and setters also need thousands of reps to assure 95% plus success:

That means a timed perfect snap and set with the laces facing the uprights every time!

Failed snaps and sets will increase missed FGs and include:

A) Bad set (laces off line off target)
B) mistimed snaps as follows:

1) Too Quick
2) Too Slow

These can result in hooks and slices and even blocked attempts but frequently cause the kicker to LOSE FOCUS and follow thru

This concludes Part 2 Of 6 — Questions?

Y'know, I hadn't thought of it that way, I'd just assumed that Saban ignored/neglected special teams (his has sucked at kicking ever since he'd been at LSU).

But I think you're right. Saban doesn't just go off and vent when something bad happens, he bitches for awhile afterwards. Goes on little mini-tirades. You can see that on video. And he nitpicks even the good parts, by his perfectionist nature.

That can't go over well with a kicker.

We've been giving the SEC this handicap for about a decade now.

Glad you finally did something with it.

Because Nick Saban would rather spend scolly on defenseive linemen and linebackers than kickers. Saban believes in good punters and not to much in kickers. When he was at LSU our kicking game was bad except for Donnie Jones and he was the punter. Miles gets no credit from LSU fans, but he fixed the kicking game of LSU when he arrived at LSU.

Because Saban sucks as a coach.

He’s too stubborn/stupid to understand the mental game of kicking.

Why any FG kicker would go to bama is beyond me.
