Why did it take 50 years for LSU to discover the forward pass?

When people complain about special teams I just try and remind them that it could be worse - in the Bobby Williams days we couldn't even cover kickoffs.

I guess reading isn't your strong suit.

"Players sorted by FG% (minimum 1 FGM/G, 75% of school games played)."

Bulovas only made 8 FGs, which is why he wasn't ranked.

If he had been, however, his 72.7% would have had him ranked ahead of...Anders Carlson.

Yes...that's two times you were unable to read.

Serious question...was this post just a lame attempt to be clever, or are you really so fricking stupid that you can't calculate 75% of anything?

Yeah, I get that he's a miserable person, but not even being able to recognize that 8 is less than 75% of 13? That's like 4th or 5th grade math, isn't it?

Just think of how many you could have if not for the shitty kicking game.

Oh you wanna pull the Bulovas Ace Card Out huh — Oh he was RANK alright!

Stunk up J-Hare in choke fest of the decade

You had all your itty bitty hopes up when he lined up on the 20 yard line for a chip shot —

I gave you dumbasses the FB CRITIQUE for his problems — As usual ZERO RESPONSE TO FB CRITQUE

1. He’s got mental blocks (basic fear of failure) instilled by Saban

WATCH OEAUX GIVE HIS K’s THE LOVE

It’s genuine, from the heart, unlike a MERC-Leaders approval that Saban doles out when? Never

2. Bulovas got Technique issues and hooks the ball for lack of follow thru

3. He has focus issues (ritual/concentration)

4. He faces irregular snap/placement with timing issues

I watched a dozen or more of this kids kicks! He’s all over the fkn place!

Bulovas was so bad he was our backup kicker.

Our true freshman starter got hurt in the 3rd or 4th game.

Saban is a fear-based Coach. That’s a great approach for everyone except for the kicker. Kicking is like a golf short game- you HAVE to be loose. He instills them with so much anxiety they begin to visualize failure and it becomes self- fulfilling prophecy.

I seem to remember him having issues with kicking at LSU as well. As much as I hate Miles, his special teams were usually excellent

We've had decent kicking at times under Saban, and for the most part our punting has been somewhere between above average and elite.

Leigh Tiffin was a solid college kicker from 2007-2009. Jeremy Shelley was automatic inside of about 35 yards from 2010-2012. Adam Griffith struggled in 2013 but was pretty solid in 2015-2016.

2017 on has been a nightmare, though. Pappanastos was ok in close, but shanked some of those in addition to not having a long leg. Bulovas was pretty good in 2018 outside of randomly missing extra points (14/17 inside of 50) but never felt like he was in a groove.

2019 was supposed to be Reichard's year, but he hurt his leg early on. Bulovas was ok, but like the year before he never seemed to be consistent - even on kicks he'd make.

Not that it's relevant to the discussion, but- La high schools have a lot of great skill position players, but the QBs are usually athletes (not passers). Quite a few become running backs or WRs, or DBs at the next level. It's the way the game is played here. We jsut don't seem to do the 7 on 7 spread style you see coming out of Texas. You probably have to go back to the Evangel era to find any prominent La qbs, and that program has been crippled.

But again, it's irrelevant, because with LSU you're talking the recruiting base.

With Saban, it's been a system thing, whether he was at LSU or Alabama. We saw good kickers at LSU before him, we saw them after him. We didn't see one with him, Alabama hasn't either.

Especially before the Tua sea change, it always amazed me. I'm old enough to remember Jim Mora's Saints; stellar defense, powerful running game, won a lot of games because they held the opponent down and got within Morten Anderson's range.
Saban built college teams on that principle, but then ignored the kicking aspect. It just never made sense.
