Here’s a question for Leach: will he drop his “What do you expect? They recruit better players than us” line after a Miss State game like he did at Wasu

I suspect that for all the talk here about how awesome it was to have The Pirate in the SEC, he'll wear out his welcome here pretty quickly. He has a prickly personality and doesn't wear well on people. The occasional Mike Leach quote is fun. Constant complaints from Mike Leach, meh, not so much.

I’d support a 12 team playoff where the first four seeds were given byes, then play on from the remaining 8, but anything more would be ridiculous. Even 12 seems too much. I think 6 would be ideal. Sure, there’ll be years that we’ll have more than 4 teams deserving of a playoff spot, like the year Penn State got left out, but more often than not we’ve seen one out of the four seeds get absolutely demolished. One of the main reasons I’d be in favor of more than a four team playoff is we’ve all seen how fans and players are beginning to view bowl games, even NY6 bowls, as meaningless, and I’m sure that trend is only going to get worse from here.

Mike Leach wants to be united with aliens from yet undiscovered worlds.

Yep. I doubt we even win the egg bowl this year.

I did think an 8 team playoff was needed, but then Oklahoma...

For every 2019 Oklahoma, there is a 2001 LSU, who by the end of the season, was playing as well as anyone in the country, and could have beaten anybody, but didn't get a chance to prove it. I would have loved to have had an eight-team playoff then.

What the hell would it matter to him? Mississippi State is never making the playoffs and I don’t care if it was an 8, 12 or 16 team playoff. They not getting by LSU, Bama or Auburn. It’s Mississippi State we are talking about. He must not realize where the hell he is.

I know you are only being a douchy little virginal wart but LSU has been to four national championships in the last 20 years.
There is no doubt that LSU would have better odds to get another championship before Mississippi LOL State gets its first.
By the way, the odds of LSU winning the championship this year are 6-1. What is Mississippi LOL State’s odds?
Face it, State is a loser program that’s best season possible is a 10 or maybe even 11 wins and a NY6 bowl. You have never done better than that in the past so what makes anybody think State could do better?
Face it, you are a junior member of the SEC and not in the league of the top tier teams. Never have been and likely never will.

Those teams would be down to their 3rd stringers and walk-ons, with others needing surgery. That whole idea is almost as bad as having socialized medicine in the USA.

I’d be ok with an expanded playoff. Eliminate two or three of the non-conference cupcakes to shorten the regular season and make a 32 team playoff.

I’m sure the TV networks would say no to this but it would cut back on the dead weeks we run into throughout the year where there are tons of horrible games.

I Say go to 12 not 8

Top 4 get Byes on conference champ has to play opening week

5-12 winner plays 1 winners play. Champ
6-11 winner plays 4
7-10 winner plays 3
9 8 winner plays 2

You make it 3 weeks versus 2 but get 12 teams versus 4

This past year Bama would have gotten in and kicked LSU butt. You know it's true, so yes, Leach is right. LSU got lucky against us in the regular season and it would have given us a chance to get it right. (Which everyone knows, we would have won if we played them again)

I wonder if you know how incredibly stupid what you posted sounds? "College football shouldn't be fair and only a handful of nationally popular schools should have a legitimate chance at winning a national title."

Every other classification of football has a playoff. It's INSANE that we've allowed division 1 football to go without a playoff this long.

LSU beats the 4 seed this year 63-28 in a boring game that was over in the first quarter.

Terrible mismatch.

4 teams is more than enough.
