Yes sure, that's why he's such a commodity among P5 schools. You would not even know the name or consider him a realistic candidate if he had not played here.

Glad you’re the expert on great o line coaching

I thought it would be considered a good hire by you. You said no one wants to work for Gus and you would not either if you were a coach. By those standards, we should be happy he can hire a OL coach.

The other interviews were a show

I don’t buy that no top coach is going to come.

The biggest complaint about Fry seems to be one of their OL’s weight, RG Ricky Stromberg.
He was 335lbs in high school his junior year and by senior year he was down to 280. He went down to 260 during the summer due to an acid reflux and sinus issue that made him struggle to eat. He was playing at 277 by end of fall camp and said his goal by the next season was 295.
I don’t think the coaching staff actually wanted him playing at a lower weight. That was the just natural progression of reworking his body plus that illness he experienced. I think it says a lot that they identified him out of high school and still started despite all that crap.
No idea who gets hired for OL coach. Obviously Fry is underwhelming but we would have traded Grimes for almost any human on earth when it became apparent we’re unlikely to sign a HS OT for the 50th season in a row

Back to his weight, Stromberg accepted as a 6-4, 280-pounder, but was headed toward 260 when he got to campus six months later.
“I got acid reflux,” he said. “I had some trouble with my sinus.”
That’s singular.
“Yeah, I’m weird, I have only one sinus,” he said. “I was having trouble with it when I got here, real bad allergies. And, I just couldn’t eat because of the acid reflux.
“It was awful. I couldn’t swallow. My throat burned down into my chest. I didn’t even want to look at food. I’d cough up stuff after it got stuck.”
Doctors got him straight with some Zantac.
“I didn’t have to take it for long,” Stromberg said. “I had begun gaining back the weight when they weighed me (for the media guide in early July). It was 266 then. I’m at 277 now and I’ll probably be 280 soon. My goal is 295 by next season.”

Harry Hiestand just came available as the Bears entire offensive staff was let go.

I am expecting the Fry hire to be announced any minute now.

He’s done well at every spot he landed at. He also has extensive experience as GA at various stops. Screw your mercenary hires. He’s an Auburn man and would be ready... different than a Simmons or Caddilac.

Lets see if CJ Uzomah is available to coach TE's while we're at it.

Maybe we can get Kevin Greene...heard that guy is a joke of a coach too

I do think the generational gap is a thing fwiw but does it affect recruits more than guys who have decades of experience in and around the league or P5 schools. Sam Pittman, Brent Key, Kyle Flood etc would suggest age doesn't matter.

And add in that if Fry was Morris top choice, he sure wasn't getting top choice treatment.
So maybe Morris isn't really that high on Fry?
If I have to choose between Fry and Pugh I'm going w/ Pugh bc he WAS Auburn and he can at least sell that as a recruiter.
Who knows if either one of them is a great OL teacher...
Evidently the ones that seem to have been at the top and declined were thought of much higher than Fry/Pugh.

I agree with you b/w Fry and Pugh I’d rather have Pugh. Pugh played at AU and not only played but he could flash that natty ring off to recruits. Fry has neither of those attributes.

My insider sources are hearing Jack Bicknell Jr as a possible candidate.
May be announced as early as tomorrow.

Your insider source must be Auburn 247 then, considering Brandon Marcelo tweeted that out 20 minutes ago lol.

I saw the other thread and just thought I would get one sarcastic response in this thread for fun.
