with the way OL play/recruiting has gone the last several years, Gus should have already had a short list..........or I think that anyway.

I think most coaches have a list, either physical or in their head. It does take time to interview, especially if you’re hiring someone that’s not in your network of coaches.

We’re in a dead period for recruiting until Jan 16. We have some time to make the right hire

Drinkwitz has had a month to interview and hire his assistant coaches. And Marcus J has been unemployed now for a week.

So i guess Grimes' announcement was just too late maybe.

Also reasonable that we just didn’t offer the job to Johnson

You don’t only interview your first and only choice?

I would take Kapilovic over Fry for sure. I like what I read about his OL at NC under Fedora
Interesting tidbit from his NC days - he signed not one but two OL from Auburn HS:

Caleb Peterson 2012

Tyler Pritchett 2016

Peterson looked like he had a pretty solid career up until his back sidelined him midway through his SR season. Pritchett never made the starting rotation and transferred to Jax State, where he appeared in their season opener but apparently in no other games. He has one year of eligibility remaining.

Per Phillip today. Coach Kap was offered but decided to stay at Colorado. Johnson was not offered by AU so he took the Mizzou job. Don't know where Gus & Chad go now.

Dead period ends on the 16th, right? I would assume that we will have a new OL coach in place by that date. I am thinking Fry gets announced today or tomorrow. Probably tomorrow, it is a good CFB news dump day.

Funny, I already saw 8 down votes on this post.

Seems like Fry is not going to be liked much if it looks like he is who we settle on.

I was disappointed on Kep not wanting to come.

I hope Fry is a much much better OL recruiter. And I have no clue how good his OL teaching is compared to Grimes who was thought of as a good teacher.

We shall see I guess.

Arkansas Oline looked like crap recently. That’s the reason for the downvotes. But, we should expect this. No top coaches are going to come work for Gus if they have options.

Because we all saw Arkansas

And we all knew this was the actual direction Gus and friends would take. The other interviews were a show
