Kirby and Georgia letting Fields and Eason walk

I know it has been talked about but Georgia and Kirby Smart don’t get enough blame for this. How do you let these two guys go (especially Fields) and go with Fromm? Now I know Georgia fans have all type of gymnastics they go through explaining how Fields transferring wasn’t Kirby’s fault. The bottom line is Eason and Fields were on Georgia’s roster and they chose to go with Fromm. It’s Les Miles level shite and Kirby deserves even more blame than he is getting.

In his defense, Fromm looked a lot better his first two years than he did this year. Plus to properly utilize Fields, you'd have to adapt that offense a little.

Probably not. just 2-3 threads a week on the same subject. Should be every day.

At the time the decision was made it was the right decision. But of course, looking back on it you are correct. Hindsight has made you a genius. Congratulations.

Eason is not in the same conversation as Fields, tbh. No real regrets there for me with regard to Eason.
Fields is another matter.
Fields is another matter.

Eason got hurt and Fromm never did anything to lose the job. Compare Eason's freshman year to Fromm's. Fields left because he didn't want to wait. Its easy in hindsight, but if you can't see why a coach would go with the QB that just led the team to a natty then idk what to tell you. Almost like you're biased or something...

Because Fromm was better than Eason and Fields was an unknown where as Fromm had a history of success. Its weird that you only want to talk about UGA's qb tranfers when 3/4 playoff teams have tranfer QB's and the last 3 heisman winning QB's were tranfer qb's. QB's don't want to wait and the new transfer rules allow them to leave.

We've had this discussion on here several dozen times and you think he doesn't get enough blame

Edit: I see you're an LSU fan. You guys are starting to catch up on AU fans for the most threads on this subject.

He struggled a little bit (a game or two) last year.
quote:Correct. I am hoping we can either adapt or the influx of receivers and experience for this past years kids will get us straightened out. We'll see.

I don't understand why people (OP) can't understand the difference of what happened 2 years ago and this year.

But it wasn’t hindsight for Kirby Smart.. he saw them every day at practice? He didn’t have the eye to see Fields >>>> Fromm?

It was because Fromm led a team to a natty where as Fields hadn't taken a collegiate snap.

Within Georgia’s offense, sophomore Fromm was probably better at making reads, checks, etc. than freshman Fields.
My issue is that if our offense didn’t fit Fields, UGA should have changed the offense.

Yes it was. Crap dude. Did you not see what Fromm did his freshman year? he led UGA to the National Championship game. You really think he was getting replaced?

We had one on our roster this year. A WR that got rave reviews about practice and continually dropped passes and did not perform in games.

You've described pretty much every Auburn QB under Gus

Considering the fact that a coach has zero control over the transfer portal, it is a weird assessment to blame a coach for a player "walking ".
Fields got a ton of playing time in 2018. He did well. He didnt make big mistakes. But he also didnt make game changing plays.
It was good enough to get snaps in the first quarter of the SECCG. But it wasnt good enough to bench Fromm who had a very good 2018.
If fields stayed, there is a chance that he would have overtaken fromm. The offense under coley was actually very friendly to a DT qb. I think it could have been more effective than what we had with a struggling WR group.

I've never understood what caused that. I mean, I always went into games a little nervous, and when we got into a tight situation I got real nervous, but I never froze up. My mind worked. My hands worked. My feet worked. To just completely melt into a puddle just seems weird. But it happens.

Kirby could have called Carmine up in Joisey to tell Fields if he left he would be sleeping with the fishes.

How was it the right decision at the time? We all new Fromm would never win a championship after his first year. The guy is just a game manager . What makes it so bad is that they let 2 star caliber QBs walk to keep Fromm . Georgia has the worst starting QB of the teams with playoff contenders.

How did we know that? He was a blown coverage in OT away from winning one when he was a frosh. For him being a game manager he certainly wrecks UF a lot.

Only reactionary idiots “knew” that.

I think it's more of deep seated offensive philosophical flaws than it is the QB they chose.
